The first time I ever laid eyes on Alex, was in September of our Sophomore year of college during a Greek 101 session for new sorority/fraternity members. It was my first week in "Greek Life" and it was Alex's second year. He was teaching a group of new members about the ins and outs of life on campus. I could not stop staring at him from across the room {In his flat brimmed backwards cap and diamond stud earrings} and I hardly remember one thing that we were supposed to learn that day.. oops!
A few weeks later my friend Bridgette Leva and I were picking up one of our pledge sisters on Willington Street. As we were sitting and waiting for our friend to come outside, we turned to our right (which overlooked the backyard of our sorority house) and saw this man in baggy sweatpants and a dark hoodie scaling the wall of the fraternity house next door to our sorority house. Of course, living in North Philadelphia, our first instinct was that somebody was breaking into the Frat house and we decided to call 911. Since we were the ones who placed the call we were asked to come to 16th Street to identify the culprit. Low and behold that athletic "burglar" was just Alex... who, instead of calling his friend to let him inside his house that he was locked out of, he decided to climb up through the second story window. When we arrived, Alex was sitting on the front stoop, in handcuffs, talking to two Philadelphia Police Officers. I think it is safe to say that I was completely embarrassed!
It wasn't until that following summer that Alex and I really hit things off. August of 2011, I was a second year member of Alpha Epsilon Phi and I finally had the opportunity to move onto "The Block". Lucky for me, Alex was still living in that Fraternity House right next door. We spent those remaining weeks of summer hanging out in the backyard, before our Junior Year of College really got started. Since that August I have found it completely impossible and unimaginable to live without him right by my side.
While Brittany was admiring me from afar, I heard through the grapevine that this blonde girl Brittany was into me. Being curious, I looked on Facebook to see who she was and she blew my mind with how beautiful she was (and still is). It wasn't until she moved in next door that I was able to get to know her. I already knew she had a crush on me, I already knew she was beautiful, the only thing left for me was to find out if I could stand hanging out with this sorority girl.
Turns out she was down-to-earth, too! Brittany was shy at first -- very quiet -- but the way she smiled said everything I needed to know about her. Over the next few weeks, we were inseparable. I would see her taking out the trash and yell out 'hey wifeyyy.' She'd respond with a cute smile and retreat into her house. When I was really able to get to know Brittany, I could see she had a beautiful heart, too. She sees the good in everything and everybody. We later fell in love and the rest is history! Our book has just begun and there are so many more chapters for us to write.
