It was February 2019 in San Francisco, and we both were swiping through potential matches on Bumble. After countless swipes, we stumbled upon profiles that caught our eyes - never dreaming that we'd found our forever matches. Brittany swiped right, and before long, we were chatting and getting to know each other better. We met for the first time at a wine bar on Hyde & Union, drinking far too much wine for a Tuesday evening.
We quickly hit it off and discovered that we both had a love for travel and exploring new places. In fact, we both dreamed of living in New York City someday. So, after 6 months of dating, we decided to take the leap and move there together.
With advice from friends that New Yorkers never spend time at home, we rented a cozy one-bedroom apartment in Little Italy. Our offices were a short NQRW train ride away, and we'd oftentimes commute together, with Remi in her K-9 sport sack accompanying us to work. On the weekends, we explored the city together, trying new restaurants, biking around the city, and making memories that would last a lifetime.
But then, the unthinkable happened - Covid hit, and we realized 350 square feet was just too small - we needed to get out of the city. Since we both worked remotely, we decided to pack up a U-haul and drive across the country to Jackson, Wyoming, where we lived on the elk refuge and enjoyed the natural beauty of the area. We spent our days hiking, skiing, and exploring, and we loved seeing wildlife up close and personal all year round - Elk, Moose, Grizzlies, Coyotes, and Pronghorn.
One other thing that made our time together special was our dog, Remi. Brittany rescued her when she was a puppy, and she just turned 7 years old. She travels with us everywhere, and as long as she can chase squirrels, lizards, and bunnies, she is happy wherever she goes.
As much as we loved Wyoming, we realized that we needed more space to grow and thrive. So, in September 2022, we rented a giant U-haul (again), packed up our belongings (and Remi, of course) and moved to Reno, Nevada. There in Somersett, we found the perfect home to build our lives together and continued to create unforgettable memories.
Now, more than four years after that fateful Bumble match, we're getting ready to tie the knot in Italy, surrounded by the people we love. We can't help but feel grateful for the journey that brought us together and we're excited for all the adventures that lie ahead.
