As is fitting for a modern-day romance, it was love at first swipe. Brittany and Bailey met over Fourth of July weekend in 2023 on the dating app Hinge. After trading long, thoughtful messages, their connection quickly deepened—first through marathon phone calls, then FaceTime dates that stretched into the early hours. They bonded over their shared love of CrossFit, cooking, travel, Philly sports, family, music, dogs, plants, and deep conversations about second careers, therapy, and life’s tougher moments.
If you know Brittany, you know she can talk—and Bailey was all in. He was captivated by her energy, her stories from her time as a dancer and aerialist, her work in occupational therapy, and her Jewish faith. Brittany, in turn, was drawn to Bailey’s strength, his commitment to personal growth, and his adventurous, creative spirit—even if video games were a newer world for her.
One month in, Bailey asked Brittany on their first in-person date: a glassblowing class and coffee at Vault and Vine in West Philly, where he gave her a ficus tree—a symbol of luck, happiness, and spiritual connection. They named him Finley.
From the start, they didn’t shy away from the “real stuff.” They talked about the future openly while still making room for impromptu dance parties, at-home concerts, and adventures from skiing in Wyoming to scuba diving in Tampa Bay to long beach days in LBI.
Bailey proposed to Brittany on September 14, 2024, at Vault and Vine—bringing their story full circle. He met her at the front door and led her upstairs to a private room filled with candles, flowers, and rose petals spelling out “B + B,” just like Derek did for Meredith on Grey’s Anatomy. As Andy Grammer’s Joy and Train’s Marry Me played, they danced, cried, and laughed before Bailey dropped to one knee and spoke the words he had dreamed of saying, inspired by Derek’s unforgettable proposal.
One of the first calls Brittany made was to her beloved Grandma Edie—or “G”—whose face lit up with pure joy. That moment will live in their hearts forever. They celebrated with family that night, just as Brittany had always hoped.
While their engagement began with celebration, the months that followed tested their strength. Brittany’s grandmother passed away in December, just days before the 13th anniversary of Bailey’s mother Tracey Lee’s passing. At the same time, Brittany’s mom was courageously fighting cancer for the third time—and winning.
Through it all, Brittany and Bailey leaned on each other and grew stronger, guided by the love, resilience, and courage of the women who raised them. Their story is one rooted in joy and challenge, laughter and tears, and a love that deepens with every season.
We’re incredibly grateful for the love and support of our family and friends—and we can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with you.
