Our Story

How we met - Brit's side...

Brit's side:

I went to a country concert only weeks after moving back to Las Vegas. After spending several years in Reno, NV, cowboy boots and country music was a part of my life, so why not go to a country concert with friends? Our seats were on the second level, so while enjoying free drinks, the girls and I were people watching prior to the concert's main event. While looking at the people of my "new city," I noticed not one person in cowboy boots (except for myself of course)... until Wade walked in. I pointed to the guy in the cowboy boots, white backwards hat, and very RED shirt. As he walked closer to our side of the venue, the girls I was with (coincidentally 2 of my bridesmaids Brittanie & Lindsey) wrote a simple note and dropped it to the lower level hoping it would land near him. Sure enough, it landed inches from his boot.

"To red shirt guy, you are cute. Call me. -Brit"

Minutes later, I got a text saying "come have a drink." A few drinks later, the concert ended and we went our seperate ways. The next day he texted me and the conversation hasn't ended since.

It was a Friday morning, and I got a text from a friend of mine stating he bought me a ticket to go to a Brantley Gilbert concert later that night. I initially declined the ticket as the opening act was set to start prior to ending my day at the office, and I wasn't a huge Brantley Gilbert fan. At approximately 6:30pm, I decided that the concert would likely be a fun time and decided to accept the ticket. After leaving the office, I quickly ran Lou, showered, threw on some jeans, an orange shirt, and my cowboys boots, and I headed out the door.

I arrived at the Chelsea, located inside of the Cosmopolitan, at approximately 9:15pm and proceeded to meet up with my buddy on the general admission floor. We quickly realized that we were wearing the same color and style of cowboy boots and engaged in some mandatory high-fiving. At that time, a female interrupted our bro moment, handed me a white napkin and said "I think this is for you." I opened the napkin which stated "To Red Shirt Guy, You are cute. Call me" and contained a telephone number. Considering I was wearing an orange shirt, I handed the napkin back to the girl and said "It's not for me, I'm not wearing a red shirt." The girl reaffirmed it was for me and told me to look up. Upon looking up, I saw three girls on the second level balcony looking down and waiving at us. Not sure which of the three dropped the napkin, I invited them to come down for a drink.

Approximately an hour later, the three girls came down and took me up on the offer. Ironically, the two friends are bridesmaids in our wedding. The lighting was very dark, but I immediately noticed, and was attracted to, Brit's bright blue eyes. Given the loud music, it was quite difficult to maintain much of conversation so our initial meeting was somewhat brief. However, I knew that she was special and I had to see her again.

About a week later, I met Brit at the dog park. This is also the first time I met Raegan. Although it seemed like only 15 minutes, we were at the park for about two hours. On the drive home, I told Lou that I liked her.

Two days later, Brit and I agreed to meet at the dog park again. On the way to the park, Lou and I were in a severe accident that totaled the car. Lou was thrown from the car and somehow I walked away with only minor cuts on the side of my face. Unable to leave the scene, and not wanting to think I was standing her up, I called Brit and informed her of the situation. At that time, Lou was not letting the paramedics get close enough to me to check out the cuts. However, as soon as Brit showed up, Lou "switched" and greeted her with a wagging tail and licks to the face. I asked her to take him back to my house and get my wallet. Without any questions, she dropped off my dog and returned with my ID. After the police left the scene and the cars were towed away, I walked back to my house. During the walk, I called Brit to thank her for her help. As I approached my house, I noticed a six pack of beer with a note and some Tylenol. I read the note while still talking to her (the note stated, in effect, that she had looked Lou over for cuts, and I should take the Tylenol that night and drink the beer the following night). After I finished reading the note, I told her that I was going to marry her. She laughed off my statement, but I knew she was "the one."

The proposal!

Wade did a great job. His brother and sister-in-law were in town visiting. After a really fun day with family and friends, we had dinner plans at a nice restaurant. The plan was for his brother and sister-in-law to go put our name in while Wade and I took our dogs to the dog park. Our first date after the concert was at the dog park, and for those who know us, our dogs are our babies. He had a sneaky photographer waiting and while doing what we love most he got down on one knee and asked. He then surprised me with his brother, sister-in- law, family and friends at dinner and had a great night
