Our Story

As a couple that is engaged we get the standard questions quite often, How did you meet?, When did you start dating?, How is Bragg so good looking!?, etc. Well I can tell you that we made our relationship official on June 1st, 2017, but that's not really where our story begins.
There is not a definite date that comes to mind to describe the day we met, although, it was close to twenty years ago. We both went to after school daycare at First Baptist Church in Gautier during elementary school circa 2004-2009. That would have been one of the first chances for us to meet and get to know each other. And we did know each other but were not anything like close friends, obviously, boys and girls at that age just aren't! So, I really hope that you weren't expecting an insane princess love story... we didn't know each others favorite color.
Brittney and I really became friends around 2010, when we both attended Gautier Middle School. We did go to after school care together prior but did not attend the same school. Brittney was arriving to GMS by way of College Park Elementary, while I came from Martin Bluff Elementary. Within the first few weeks at this point in your life, friendships begin to form and as fate would have it we began running in the same circles. Since then, Brittney and I have been close friends, not ever once dating each other until much later in life. (Although, I always thought she was beautiful)
About seven years later something changed a little bit between me and Brittney. She will tell you that we didn't start dating until after we graduated high school. While that is correct, technically, something was different between us earlier that year. Around maybe Mardi Gras of 2017, I found myself texting her a little more than usual. I noticed that I would take a longer bathroom break in class to go to the classroom she was in (don't tell my mom I was cutting class please). I would flirt a little bit with her and she didn't run away in disgust, she actually flirted back a little! This is something I obviously was not used to so I figured that I was mistaken. We graduated together that May and I figured that at some point I would have to work up the courage to ask her out. Don't get me wrong I had a MASSIVE crush on her but the last thing I needed was to be rejected by one of my best friends. I asked her to go on a date to the movies and with her acceptance, on May 31st, 2017 we went to see Baywatch at the Grand in D'Iberville. The movie wrapped up around 11:30 PM or so and I drove Brittney back home. As I was walking her to the door, at 12 AM on June 1st, I just kind of asked her, Do you wanna be my girlfriend? It did not come out all cool or smooth, really it was more like a business proposal. Thankfully, she felt the same way about me that I did about her.
The seven years from the night I asked her to be my girlfriend to the night I asked her to be my wife, have gone by too fast. We have experienced so much together and are very excited to continue our relationship.
We have been friends for close to fifteen years or so and I think that is what keeps our relationship fresh. At the end of the day we are not just boyfriend and girlfriend or an engaged couple, we are first and foremost friends with each other. We enjoy laughing together and watching movies. She enjoys when the house is clean and loves to tell me to clean up! I enjoy seeing her smile and watching her bake. We will continue to be friends for the rest of our lives, just with a different title.

Thank you so much for being apart of our wedding day!
