The Beginning

Garrett and Brittny met online. We talked for several weeks and seemed to have a connection but ultimately decided the distance wasn't something we were willing to deal with. About 6 months later Brittny sends a text to Garrett saying "I am going through my phone and deleting people I no longer talk to. I have you saved as GB. Just want to make sure who you are before I delete it." This sparked conversation and within a week we went on our first date. Garrett later found out that Brittny knew it was him the whole time.

The First Date February 18, 2018

Due to distance between us we decided to meet in Iowa City as it was about half way for both of us. We went ice skating followed by dinner at Texas Roadhouse. Before we left that night we made plans for our next date. The next few months were spent traveling back and forth getting to know each other and our families.

The Proposal January 4, 2019

We started looking at rings in late October. Brittny picked it out so Garrett bought the ring but Brittny kept looking. Finally Garrett decided he couldn't risk her falling in love with a different ring so told her to stop looking because he had already purchased one. Brittny made it clear she did not want the proposal to be during the holidays.

We spent the evening at a high school basketball game watching a family friend play. When we got home, Garrett said he had to run out to his car to get something. When he came back in he had roses. Brittny made a big production about him finally listening about getting her just because flowers. She also made the comment "You made me nervous. You better not propose in the kitchen." He went along with it and told her to go pick out a movie. Normally this takes forever but she had been wanting to watch Lion King all week so was back in the kitchen in no time telling him she had a movie picked. By now Garrett had momentos like ticket stubs from dates throughout the year laid out. Brittny questioned what he was doing. He said he just felt like reminiscing. Brittny called him out again saying that was weird. Garrett told her to go put comfy clothes on and get the movie ready. Brittny went to the living room pouting. At this point she knew something was up. Garrett then came in the room with a rock Brittny had given him on one of their first dates. He tossed the rock to her and said this is one of many rocks you have given me. Brittny was prompt to remind him it was the only rock. To which he responded one of many rocks I will receive from you throughout ours lives together but now it is the time for me to give you a rock and got down on one knee. Brittny eventually said yes through the happy tears.
