Our Wedding

Brooke and Cam first met in what may be the nerdiest way possible: as volunteer co-organisers of an international affairs and gender equality NGO event in 2012. They bonded from the moment they laid eyes on each other when Cam valiantly rescued Brooke from a charity mugger (who said chivalry was dead?). From there, it was only a matter of impatiently waiting until Cam could ask Brooke out at the post-event drinks. Despite an attempt at interference from an insubordinate intern, Cam managed to ask Brooke to dinner and the first chapter of their romance began. Such chapter was cut short when Cam was offered a DFAT grad position in Canberra and relocated out of Sydney. However the two remained good friends for the better part of a decade, until 2020 when Cam realised enough was enough and made the decision to move back to Sydney to try things out with Brooke (spoiler alert, things went really well). Following a brief, ACT-mandated stint of living together in Canberra as a result of the 2021 border closures, the pair moved into their Camperdown apartment in March 2022 and got engaged in January 2023. How did Cam pop the question? Cam told Brooke the bait-and-switch story that they were going 'for a picnic somewhere'. He instead took her on a re-enactment of their very first date (the one they had in 2012) and proposed to her at a location overlooking the harbour cafes where Brooke and Cam had always caught up for lunch or coffee over the years.

Lauren and Brooke met (in a similarly nerdy way as the bride and groom) as first year students at the University of Wollongong where they each had scholarships in the Black Opal Leadership Program and met on the bus on the way to orientation camp. 
These days Lauren is a marketing and bids weapon who manages a team in her corporate gig, she is a gifted painter, conversationalist, wine enthusiast, new home owner and her wonderful partner Ryann is usually seen smiling at her side. 
... She's also drop dead gorgeous and gives 120% to everything she puts her hand to. Brooke and Cam love her to death.

Lauren Ellitt

Adrian has had the unfortunate pleasure of knowing Cameron since they started high school together. Their lives have followed similar paths ever since, from debating and US band trips to Uni Games and becoming part of the Australian bureaucratic machine. Adrian is a wine lover, politics nerd and accomplished sports heckler. He can be found going for excessively long runs around Canberra or at the newest wine bar in the Parliamentary Triangle.

Tiffany is Brooke's best friend from high school who may as well be her [fourth] sister. They met on the bus to school in year 8 and throughout high school they made a point to pick the same class electives every year so they could hang out (cute!). Tiff's banter is only matched by her great sense of humour, she lives on the central coast, and is an awesome mum to three kids and a french bulldog. Any time spent with Tiff is a blast.

Alex first met Cameron in the latter stages of university, where they quickly bonded over the finer points of international relations theory. After graduating, Alex and Cameron moved to Canberra and shared a house in Far North Ainslie where they became YAMILs (young adult males in lycra) and developed a famous gummy bear punch recipe. Alex now makes a living massaging strangers (he’s a physio, don’t worry) and is an authority on the implications of private military companies for Weberian statecraft theory.

Kate hails from Adelaide, is a primary school teacher, small business owner, married to her endlessly talented husband Ben, mother to toddler Harry - and recently she was excited to announce she has another on the way! She is the best company in the world and one of the kindest, most generous and capable humans Brooke and Cam have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Any time spent with Kate is a gift. Make sure to say hi!

Magnus and Cameron also met at university where Magnus consistently tried to convert Cameron to social democratism (with an emphasis on socialism). This ultimately failed, much like most of his beloved Liverpool’s attempts to win the English Premier League in modern times. Magnus now lives in the socialist paradise of Melbourne where he works for the Victorian Government and frequents obscure indie band gigs.

Laura is a talented writer, actor, singer, musician, theatre producer, mother and all around amazing human being, whom Brooke met in first year on uni and has shared many of her favourite memories with in the last 15 years. Laura can often be seen hanging out with her handsome husband Tom (in Cam's opinion, just dropping facts here) and gorgeous son Darcy, or working on writing her series of published children's books.
She also makes a mean cocktail. Hit her up for a lychee martini recipe.

Laura Jackson

Sam met Cameron at a think tank debate on Australia’s China policy. They have been good friends ever since, despite Sam being a raging Tory (I exaggerate, he’s actually rather sensible). On top of their shared interest in China policy, they are both politics nerds and wine lovers, almost always at the same time. Sam is a qualified sommelier and is quickly developing a reputation as a wedding MC.

Gundagai is approximately 4 hours drive from Sydney, 5 hours from Melbourne, 1.5 hours from Canberra and 2-3 hours from the Blue Mountains. Transport to and from the ceremony and reception will be provided for those staying in Gundagai centre. A bus will pickup guests from the Gundagai Information Centre on Sheridan Street . The bus will also transport everyone to the reception venue and then do two runs back into town in the evening. Precise timings are still TBC so keep an eye on this page closer to the date. The pick up and drop off in town is at a central location and guests will have to walk to their accommodation from there. Luckily Gundagai is a small country town so it will be a very short walk. A number of accommodation options are included below but more options are available.
