Brooke and Josh paths crossed unexpectedly back in April of 2022. Brooke just completed her Undergraduate Pilot Training Program in the Air Force and was sent to Altus, OK to begin initial training flying the C-17. Josh, had recently moved to Austin TX for a promotion with his job as a Wildlife Biologist. Being that Brooke and Josh share the same love for their faith and relationship with Jesus, they individually gravitated toward listening to a pastor called Jonathan, JP, Pokluda. JP and his colleagues began a podcast called Becoming Something which speaks on different topics about navigating life as a young Christian adult in today’s world. The Becoming Something Podcast decided to host a live podcast weekend in Waco TX, where they spent the weekend hosting over 1500 young adults from around the US. Brooke and Josh both signed up for the podcast and arrived to Waco with eagerness for the weekend ahead.
At the podcast, Brooke and Josh both participated in a Christian speed-dating event. Unfortunately, they did not have a speed date with one-another but afterwards they caught each other's eye and began to talk in a large group of other young adults. The next day, Josh and his friends came to find Brooke and her group of new friends she had made the night prior, along with her best friend, Jenna. They insisted on grabbing the group photo taken with JP the night before, and used that as an excuse to sit with the girls.
Afterwards Brooke, Josh, and their immediate friends all went out to lunch together. By the end of lunch, Josh knew he couldn’t leave without at-least seeing if Brooke was interested in getting to know him more. Valiantly, he asked Brooke if they could continue getting to know one other via phone call. Brooke, impressed by the forwardness and pursuit Josh expressed, said yes! Everyday after, Brooke and Josh spoke on the phone for at-least an hour, getting to know each other and assessing one another’s character. Josh and Brooke have been in a long distance relationship since June of 2022! They have endured life apart but together through Facetime dates and periodic visits, knowing that their relationship only exists to Glorify the Lord. There is no doubt to Brooke, Josh, and their families that this relationship has prospered by the Lord’s efforts.
We are so grateful and excited to be able to share this covenant of marriage with each and every one of you! We love you all very much!
