Jordan and Brooke met in the chemistry department at the University of Tennessee. Jordan was working on his doctorate degree in organic chemistry while Brooke was working towards her bachelor’s degree in animal science. Their first date was pretty traditional – first, dinner at an Italian restaurant in market square, followed by a horror movie at the nearby movie theatre. Even though the date went well, they did not start officially dating until a year later in 2017.

In the beginning of their relationship, they bonded over their love for dogs, shared family values, comedians and country artists, and the VOLS. While in Knoxville, Jordan and Brooke spent a lot of time together at the local dog park with Ace and Minerva. When they were not at the dog park, or working hard on their studies, they could be found on the jumbotron at Neyland Stadium in the fall. Other memorable moments around Knoxville include seeing live comedians, like Daniel Tosh and Gabriel Iglesias, and country music artists, like Florida Georgia Line and Tim McGraw/Faith Hill. Around the holidays, both endured double-digit hour-long car rides back home to ensure they didn’t miss being with their families.

As their relationship developed, Jordan learned all about Brooke’s love for movies and her passion for all things Harry Potter. A passion so strong, all of her dogs are named after characters throughout the series. Brooke on the other hand, learned about Jordan’s love for sports, such as volleyball and football. Together they enjoy movie nights on the couch and at the theater, Harry Potter movie marathons, and live sporting events of all kinds. Aside from being able to enjoy their own personal interests together, both Brooke and Jordan share a competitive nature that knows no bounds. They channel their competitiveness together by playing challenging board games and escape rooms together.

Today, Brooke and Jordan still enjoy a lot of the same things that built the foundation of their relationship. They both love taking care of their 5 dogs (Ace, Minerva, Molly, Romilda, and Jet) and make routine visits to Neyland Stadium each football season to cheer on the Vols with friends. Both Brooke and Jordan are unlimited movie members are the local movie theater and make trips up to Nashville from time to time to listen to live music and watch some of their favorite comedians perform. To keep their competitive nature alive, they have quite the library of board games and have escaped rooms in two different countries and four different states.

Jordan knew from the first trip with Brooke’s family to Universal Studios in Florida that that’s where he would propose. From early on, a deal was made that every other year they’d go to Florida, specifically to spend some time at Universal (for Jordan’s love of rollercoasters and Brooke’s love of the Wizarding World part of the parks) – and 2023 was a Florida year.

Brooke’s oldest brother, Aaron, and his wife, Charlotte, aren’t too far away and Brooke wanted to invite them to spend a day or two with them at the park. What Brooke didn’t know at the time was that she just invited their photographers on the trip to capture the moment. Or that they would be bringing in the ring through security for Jordan.

Brooke is pretty predictable on their Universal trips – they get in, head immediately to Hogwarts, take a thousand pictures of everything she took pictures of two years before, and then Brooke and Jordan get a photo together in front of Hogwarts. On Tuesday, August 22nd, 2023, Jordan counted on this, and everything went according to plan. When the time arrived, Brooke asked Aaron to take their photo, and while Brooke was reviewing the pictures, Jordan was taking out an elder wand necklace he had gotten her for Christmas this past year, as well as a Golden Snitch ring box, and went down on one knee. He quoted Harry Potter, “After all this time, will you marry me?” to which Brooke appropriately responded, “Always! Yes.”
