Josh- “Hi, is this Brooke?”

Brooke “I think you have the wrong number----------”

Little did we know it in the Spring of 2019, but the initial text exchange would change both of our lives forever. (If any of you really know Brooke you’d know her response to my call was exactly what you would expect from her)

In the Spring of 2019, two of us thirty something year old adults were both traveling through life single, independent, and content. Two of our friends, Vickie and Derek Hastings decided that they should put us together on a whim. Vickie went to college at Purdue University with Brooke and have remained great friends ever since. Derek met Josh through their shared love of racing go karts and have become very close friends over the last decade. One day, Vickie decided she wanted to set us up, and while there was some slight apprehension about being set up on a blind date, neither one of us could have imagined at that time what it would turn into. Two people who are independent could no longer imagine doing life without the other.

Once we had talked on the phone and felt comfortable with meeting for a date, Josh bought tickets to an Indianapolis Indians game being as though both Brooke and Josh are avid sports fans. (This could have gone terribly wrong with the length of baseball games) Josh was a little shy, but with Brooke being her normal goofy, sarcastic, witty self the shyness soon faded for Josh. We sat and watched and talked until the game ended, returned to our cars and headed our separate ways home. We continued to see each other every week, continuing to get more comfortable around each other, building our relationship, and ultimately falling in love.

Brooke isn’t just someone that I can live with, she is a person I can’t live without. Brooke and I have been through both tough and great times in our time together already. She is my biggest supporter and my best friend. Marriage isn’t something either of us take lightly, it is forever, and it is with both of us and God.

I think he said everything just about PERFECT above. Josh is my person that is for sure. He sure puts up with a lot of my sass, but he loves me unconditionally. In all seriousness though he is the guy I’ve always dreamed of. He has the BIGGEST heart of any person I know, and he’s a lot funnier/weirder than he lets on(wonderful qualities if you want to hitch your wagon to mine). I am so thankful that out of everyone he chose ME to do life with. I am very excited for the wedding day to get here and celebrate with our family and friends!
