RSVP BY NOVEMBER 24th
Art's Perspective: We met at the Georgia GOP state convention in 2024. Brooke stopped by the John Birch Society’s table for 2 hours, and after speaking with her for about an hour, I thought to myself, “This girl is Reformed and intelligent.”
Fast forward to January of this year, we met again at the Faith and Medicine Conference in Buford, GA, where I got her number “to connect with G3”, after having another 2-hour conversation with her. I sent her a text, and I was ghosted for about 3 months.
Until the GRA endorsement convention, where we had another 2-hour discussion, where I asked her to lunch since lunch is very neutral, the perfect blend of business or pleasure. Then we met again at the GOP GA state convention, where we had lunch and dinner and supper together. And, so I asked her out on a date where we went to eat at Maggiano’s and played at Sandbox VR, where I carried the team through the entire game.
Afterward she asked me to change my status onFacebook, so then it was official. I met her family on the Fourth of July. Then I planned on asking her to marry me at an Apologetics conference in Nashville in front of James White, but she astutely figured out my plan, so I had to call an audible. I asked her after she spoke at a Georgia Right to Life Pillars of Personhood training at a church in Griffin, GA. And her response was “Yes… is this really happening right now?” and so the audible worked out and the rest is history.
Brooke's Perspective: When I first talked to Art at the GOP convention in 2024 (which I remember being a 30-minute conversation, not two hours!), I remember thinking he was very put together and mature. I was at the convention to help man the Georgia Right to Life table. I have worked for the organization for over two years now. The other events I saw him at this year were events where I was also helping with our Georgia Right to Life table. Admittedly, I did ghost him at the beginning of the year!
But, the Lord had a plan as I talked to him at the Georgia Republican Assembly's (GRA) Endorsement Convention in May, where he asked me to get lunch with him (I was unsure if it was a date or related to work). We texted a lot after that, and saw each other again at the GOP convention this year in June. We did have lunch with my co-workers and went to the same GRA events the first day of the convention (I also wouldn't call one supper and one dinner ha, but he does apparently!) at the GOP convention. I knew I liked him then, but I was praying about it and asking the Lord to make it clear if we should have a relationship together or not. Well, fast forward, he came to Atlanta on June 23rd after he asked me on a date, where we ate at my favorite Italian restaurant, and we went to a virtual reality game he likes. To clarify, I asked him at the end of that night if this was a date, and then mentioned changing his Facebook status. I like clarity. :)
After that, I invited him to spend time with my family over the 4th of July and meet my parents, sister, grandma, aunt, uncle, and cousin (I thought that he might as well just jump right in!). I was impressed by his willingness to meet everyone and talk to my family, as well as help my sister move the day after the fourth.
We also had many long conversations over the phone before this and still do now about the Lord, theology, life, and many other topics.
Fast forward to August 16th, when I had no idea that he was proposing to me after I taught part of our Georgia Right to Life training! I did have a clue that it would happen in September at the Apologetics conference (since he asked my ring size and said the conference would be unforgettable), but I had no clue it would happen on August 16th.
Now, we are getting married and praying that the Lord would glorify Himself through our future together!
