Ben and Brooke first met when Brooke became a leader at Trinity Church where Ben works. After a couple of months with little more than pleasantries and subtle texts from Brooke, conversation began sparking between the two. After a week of non-stop talking, Ben decided to ask her out on what would be their first date at Sleepy Hollow Park. Kayaking, a walk on the beach, and a fun appetizer of lake-soaked Chex made up for a beautiful first date.

Since then, the couple has been the power couple of both Trinity Church's youth group and their friend groups. It has been nearly two years of date nights, party hosting, and crazy youth group retreats for the couple together. They finally decided they were done with the late nights having to say goodbye to one another. On December 24th of 2022, after a day full of turmoil concerning flight plans, they drove out to the sight where it all started, Sleepy Hollow Park. After a short walk rounding a corner in a swirling blizzard, there stood a tree wrapped in lights. Brooke was so distracted by the travel plans going awry, that she was totally clueless as to what was about to happen. She did not realize it until she asked Ben how the Christmas Eve service was at church and he said, "It was good...but that's not what we're talking about right now." It was then that Brooke realized what was about to happen and she was so excited and could not believe it was real (so much so that after Ben popped the question she asked, "Is this a dream?"). Ben led Brooke over to the tree with lights hung on it, and asked her to be his wife. After the proposal they spent some time soaking in the moment, just the two of them, before they went back to be with everyone and share their news with the rest of their family and friends.
