Pallavi and Bryan met on OKcupid in May 2021 while they were living in Colorado. Their first connection was that they both taught English in China (at different times). After exchanging some messages, they were both interested in meeting in person, so Bryan initiated the date at Bigsby's Folly in downtown Denver, and they enjoyed some of their favorite things: a good drink, good conversation and PIZZA!
They continued taking turns going up and down I-25 visiting each other in Fort Collins and Denver. Some of their memorable moments together included paddle boarding, bike riding to breweries, meeting each other's friends, exploring Rocky Mountain National Park, camping, listening to Bryan play saxophone with his friends at gigs, nights out on the town, and getting caught in a hail storm after trying to fix a flat tire!
Bryan and Pallavi were falling head over heels for one another. Early on, Bryan had mentioned that he may want to move back to North Carolina at some point. They both knew that they wanted to be in each other's lives, but where was this going to be?
After discussing scenarios, they came to the decision that they would move to North Carolina together! Before moving, they proceeded to do a crash course: Pallavi visited NC, for a quick weekend, to check out different cities, they flew to Austin for Thanksgiving to meet Pallavi’s dad, they flew to NC to meet Bryan’s family and signed a lease for a rental home, and they lived together for about 2 months in Fort Collins. Then, they (including Monsieur, their sweet, old man cat) moved to Chapel Hill, NC Dec 2021!
They went camping for Pallavi's birthday and, while on their way back to Greensboro for a sweet birthday dinner, Bryan was very insistent on finding a scenic view. Pallavi was antsy about getting to GSO because they were already running late, but finally gave in to trying to help find a view. After some annoying internet searches for "scenic overlook" while still on the highway, they ended up taking an exit that eventually led to some gravel roads - found to be driveways to some random peoples' homes - out in the town of Clayton, NC. Little did she know that Bryan had been scheming this whole time to get down on one knee and pop that exciting question, “Will you marry me?” Pallavi, of course, couldn’t believe it, cried and said “YES!”
