January 20, 2024 was a downpour. It had been raining all morning so Taylor decided to actually relax (for once) and enjoy the slow, gloomy day. Bryan, on the other hand, could not sit down. It was like we switched roles. Every crevice of our house was spotless and while a restless Bryan on a gloomy day should have been the first clue, Taylor had no idea what was in store later that afternoon.

That said, Bryan was on a mission to get Taylor down to Shaw’s Cove in Laguna Beach for this proposal. Under the disguise of going to watch the 49ers in the playoffs (Go Niners!) with some friends, the couple headed to the proposal spot. On the way, Bryan reminded Taylor how much he’s been wanting to go spearfishing and because we’re hardly ever in Laguna, he wanted to check out a spot he and his friend were talking about to make sure the conditions were good enough because, “said friend is not a strong swimmer.” This should have been another dead giveaway given they both have swam with this friend many times in the ocean, but still no suspicion. Also, little did we both know, it’s illegal to spearfish in Laguna. Thankfully, Taylor didn’t know this random piece of trivia.

She agreed to the quick pitstop but insisted we make it quick so we don’t miss kick off. Taylor caring more about his game should have been the third giveaway… As we got there, Taylor reluctantly made it down to the beach, in her leather boots mind you, to help him check the conditions of the ocean. It wasn’t until they were on the beach when the rain suddenly let up and Bryan saw his opportunity. He gave the hidden photographer a nod, catching Taylor off-guard and asking her to spend the rest of their lives together. She said a very excited and pronounced YES!!!

Bryan went above and beyond for Taylor for this proposal… he not only booked a staycation where two of her best friends decorated the room with photos, balloons and champagne, and planned an unforgettable dinner, he also organized for local and distant friends to gather and celebrate the following day. As what she thought was was a brunch for just the two of them, she rounds the corner to see 20+ of our people there to celebrate our love. It was one of the most beautiful gestures and surprises she’s ever experienced. It was a magical weekend and one we will never forget.
