The very first time I met Bryce was back in middle school during tennis practice. My grandmother, Ita, used to drive me there, and one day as we were pulling up, she asked if I had a crush on any of the boys. I told her I did—it was “the boy in the blue shoes.”As the years went on, I started noticing Bryce more and more at school. By high school, it was no secret to anyone on the tennis team that I liked him. Still, we were just friends.During my sophomore year and his junior year, Bryce asked me out. I was excited, but our first date turned out to be a little awkward—I could tell he was nervous. Later that night, though, he told me he had a great time, and I felt the same. We kept talking for a few weeks after that. Then one day, Bryce told me he wasn’t ready for a girlfriend.I told myself it was time to move on, but deep down, I still cared for him more than he probably ever realized. Over the next few years, I stayed as close to him as I could, quietly hoping he’d change his mind. When he graduated and left for college, I assumed that was it—he was gone for good.During my senior year, I went through a tough relationship that taught me a lot of hard lessons. After it ended, I promised myself I was done with dating for a long while.Then, near the end of my senior year—just two months before my final tennis season ended—Bryce showed up at practice to help coach. I remember watching him pull up in his blue Dodge Dart, thinking,&nbsp;Why is he here?&nbsp;But for some reason, I felt a rush of excitement.We started talking here and there, both at practice and over the phone. I tried to keep things casual—I wasn’t looking to date—but my feelings for him had never really gone away. On the last day of my tennis season, Bryce asked me if I’d go out with him. And I said yes.Since then, we’ve been dating for over a year, and it has truly been the best year of my life. We’ve experienced so much together—long distance, the loss of loved ones, and everyday challenges that have helped us grow not only closer to each other, but also closer to God.We’ve seen God’s hand in our relationship in countless ways, and I wholeheartedly believe He brought us together—to love Him, and to love each other, for the long haul. I thank God for my man every single day.

Lexi's POV

I had known Lexi since middle school through tennis, but I really started to get to know her in high school. She was always managing the guys’ tennis team. I had known of her for a while, but the truth is, I never really knew how to talk to girls. As surprising as that may seem, I was never exactly smooth.Over time, both Lexi and I ended up in separate relationships, and looking back now, we both agree they weren’t great. We each felt pretty uncomfortable during those times and learned a lot from them.After that, I decided I wasn’t going to date anyone for a while. My plan was to focus on college and tennis, and not even think about dating until after I graduated.But after my freshman year, I came back home to help coach the girls’ tennis team—and that’s when I saw Lexi again. She was no longer in a relationship, and something in me just clicked. I decided I was really going to go for it this time.I had always secretly liked her, but I never knew how to act on it. I was also way too anxious to ever date someone from the same school I was attending. Still, I made up my mind—no matter how uncomfortable or awkward I might feel, I wasn’t going to let anything stop me from going after this beautiful, amazing girl.It genuinely felt like God was helping me through it all, because everything just felt right. Sure, it was awkward at first—but we went out, and since that very first day, we’ve pretty much spent time together every single day.
