Our Wedding

As many of you know, we welcomed Rheya Lynne Taylor into the world on November 8th, 2020. If you'd like to contribute to our growing family, you can find our registries in the "Baby Taylor" tab. Thank you all!

Welcome Rheya

I've always told myself, "everything happens for a reason," but it wasn't until I met Seth that the mantra truly convinced me. His career took him from Ohio to South Carolina to California, then back to Ohio again. My path led me from Illinois to South Dakota, then back home followed by a spontaneous move to Ohio. To think about our scattered geographical life journeys and how we ultimately came together through friends is surreal. We first met at a sushi restaurant – where I clearly remember being in a sour mood – yet for some reason he thought I was worthy of attention. We would cross paths occasionally, and over time I developed a serious secret crush. I didn't know he felt the same until we had what I'll call our "first date" at a Mud Hens baseball game, finished with a guitar serenade. Needless to say it was a great night all around. Everything has always been easy with Seth; The level of comfort I feel with him is unlike anything I've ever experienced!

I'm sold, God. You made someone just right for me to live this life with.

I always had this vision of a fun, eclectic Chicago wedding, which our families helped tremendously in bringing to life. A huge thank you to everyone who was a part of this day! We have many adventures ahead and we couldn't be happier to share it with you! xo, Bryna

A Note From The Bride

Our Story

Wedding Venue

Sometime around 1886 -- before automobiles, airplanes, electricity or indoor plumbing -- a group of working-class Swedes pooled their limited resources and opened a church at the intersection of Elm and LaSalle Streets in Chicago. Despite limited resources, they built a modest sanctuary, and sensing God had big plans, they opened their doors to the neighborhood. That was more than 125 years ago. The neighborhood has seen waves of new faces, from the Swedes and the Appalachian families of the 1930s to the Italian immigrants of the '40s and '50s and the African Americans of the '60s and '70s. Through it all, the doors of LaSalle Street Church have opened wider and wider. God gave the congregation of LaSalle a heart for the neighborhood and a willingness to tackle big issues. LaSallers started the first faith-based legal aid clinic in the country, began a tutoring program for kids in the Cabrini-Green housing project, gave life to a Christian counseling center and nurtured the elderly through a senior program. They even began a high-quality childcare agency so children of diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds could learn together. This is the story of LaSalle Street Church. It's a place where the gospel has some skin to it, as we seek to live out a life of sacrifice, justice, love and commitment. It's a church community that opens its doors wide and welcomes all.

Reception Venue

In the 1860s, Goose Island was inhabited mainly by its namesake birds and a few enterprising squatters. Things have changed quite a bit since then, but at heart the island is still a mixture: old and new, high and low, nature and urbanity. Gallery 1028 is a venue that encapsulates that dichotomy well, epitomizing quality with distinction and class while staying true to its roots. We take this holistic approach in everything we do here, striving to produce events that will echo down the caverns of memory for years to come. It's a warehouse building, so double-check you're in the right place with Google Street View.

After Party

Emmitt's Irish Pub

While its existence was relatively brief in the 1980's in Chicago's long bar history, O'Sullivan's Tavern, which presently is Emmit's Irish Pub, left a legacy of good times and wild times, including two shooting deaths of would-be robbers and City Hall intervention to stop dwarf tossing at the bar. The first floor of Emmit's Irish Pub became a bank during the Prohibition and reportedly housed the cash of many Chicago gangsters. "I've heard the gangsters kept cash in a safe deposit box so they wouldn't leave a cash trail," said former owner Mike Johnson. Also, during the period when the building was a bank, tunnels were dug from the building to various other buildings in the neighborhood. Johnson said one could go from the bank all the way to Field Museum several miles southeast of the building; making the tunnels a possible hideaway or route for 1920s gangsters on the run.In addition to the craziness, Emmit's seems to be a popular spot to shoot bar scenes for movies and television. Some films include Uncle Buck, Only the Lonely, Blink, Backdraft, two episodes of the Untouchables, Oceans Eleven, Oceans Twelve, U.S. Marshalls, Eagle Eye and Overcoat. Some TV shows include the CBS weekly drama Turks, Early Edition, the Beast and a few Playboy Shoots as well.Today the old tavern has taken on a new life, yet still with the same spirit. Emmit's owners, Kevin Doherty and Ron Halvorsen (both firemen) re-opened the bar in July of 1996. With hard work, both renovating and becoming established, these gentlemen have brought back the nostalgia, creating a new Irish Pub with great spirit, great food and more wild times to come.
