Flying

Airports

Eagle County Regional Airport is the cloesest airport located in Vail, CO, about a 45 minute drive. This is a very small airport with only Delta, United, American, and Alaska airlines flying into there. Additionally, there are no direct flights from the DMV area. Please note that flights to this airport tend to be limited and more expensive.

Denver International Airport is roughly 2 hours away, please visit the attached link for details. The Denver airport is large and we recommend taking that into consideration when planing your travel timelines. Additionally, please consider that this airport is roughly 2 hours from Breckenridge. Both Delta and Southwest offer direct flights from BWI.

Colorado Springs Airport is also roughly 2 hours away, please visit the attached link for details. There are shuttle options and rental car options to get to Breckenridge, but unlike Denver there are no public transit options. Southwest offers direct flights from BWI.

Getting to and from the airport

There are a number of shuttle services to pick from that will take you directly to Breckenridge ranging from $69 to $1,200. Please visit this link for more information: https://gobreck.com/plan-your-visit/transportation-maps-directions/how-to-get-to-breckenridge-from-denver

The area offers many public transportation options. To get to Breckenridge from DIA, start by taking the A Line on the RTD rail service from DIA to Union Station (downtown Denver) for just $10.50. From Union Station, take the Bustang West Line toward Grand Junction and get off at the Frisco Bus Station. From there, take the free Summit Stage bus to Breckenridge. Also, in addition to CDOT’s Bustang West service, which stops at Frisco, the Pegasus service also runs from Denver Union Station to Frisco and the Snowstang service runs direct from Denver to Breckenridge.

Most airlines offer discounts for rental cars when you book your flights, most commonly with Avis or Budget.

Driving

From Maryland, drving to Colorado will take about 2 days. Though that is not ideal, the Breckenridge area and places along the way boast great camping and RV options. However, we do recommend you consider your comfort with driving through the mountains and strong cross winds when driving larger vehicles.
