Bryton and I met in the early summer of 2022. I recently moved back to Willmar, MN after graduating from nursing school. I was working at Rice Hospital as a nurse and Bryton started there a short time after as an ICU travel nurse. From the moment we met we became great work friends. Bryton was a great help and confidence booster in the beginning of my career. One day in August, he asked me for my number. In unexpected fashion I figured out a way to walk away without giving it to him. Not much time later I turned around and gave him my number. A week later Bryton texted me asking me to go golfing with him. In oblivious Makenna fashion I did not realize he was asking me on a date and tried to invite a friend. That was that. No dates for us, just back to work friends. A year later after I won a friendly bet, I was owed a DQ blizzard that turned into at least a 5-hour time chatting. That led to an unplanned date shopping for Bryton’s new apartment and grabbing a drink. At this date we both can agree that in so many ways the Lord told us that day we were meant for each other. One so oblivious being a lady stopping us thinking we were already together to telling us she can see us getting engaged and married. She was insistent she was going to see it in the paper. From then on it was constant texts, long late-night phone calls. Bryton bought me musical tickets for a date on April 28th, 2023. In gentleman fashion he showed up to my parents’ house (where I was living at the time) with a dozen roses for me, and a gift for my parents. After the musical he shared a letter with me as he knew I loved letters. Ending the letter with asking “if you truly are trying to find your one, I want to be your one. Will you be my girlfriend?” That next year was filled with so many memories. Memories of cooking, baking, carping, a trip to New York, family time, dinner parties. A week shy of a year later, he took me turkey hunting on my Grandpa Bill’s land. He hunted, I read my book. As we packed up and I was coming down the latter Bryton asked me if I wanted to keep doing this forever. In oblivious Makenna fashion again, I said yeah sure as long as I have my book, to only turn around to see him down on one knee asking me to marry him. From the beginning we can both agree the Lord destined us to marry each other and now we are excited to celebrate our wedding day with all of you!
