What to Wear: For the Ladies

***NO RED OR WHITE DRESSES***

Our wedding will celebrate both South Asian and Latin cultures. Please wear whatever you feel best in! This is a black-tie optional wedding, so if you choose to wear a traditional American dress, wear bright colors to spice things up!

If you are interested in wearing South Asian clothing, but are unsure where to start, see below for links to order clothes or shops we recommend.

Some things to consider:

Sari: This is a traditional Indian/Bangladeshi outfit that consists of a blouse, petticoat, and long sari that is wrapped around you. If you do not regularly wear one, we recommend purchasing a pre-clipped sari to make dressing up simpler.

Lehengha: This outfit is comprised of a crop top, long skirt, and scarf (orna/dupatta), that is draped over your shoulders. This is a fairly simple outfit to put on for any guest.

Salwar Kameez: This is comprised of a matching long tunic, scarf, and matching pants. This is great for someone who wants to be comfortable, while also stylish for the wedding!

Bindi: This is a red, or other color, dot worn in between the eyebrows. You can absolutely wear this at the wedding! Please avoid over the eyebrow bindi work as this is a bridal tradition.

What to Wear: For the Gentlemen

This wedding is black-tie optional. If you are most comfortable in a suit, please wear one! You also have the option of wearing a traditional kurta and pyjama set, a traditional outfit for South Asian men during special occasions.
