Our Wedding

An astronaut was seeking sustenance before returning home from her mission: Halloween 17. She didn’t expect to find other signs of life, but an unexpected meeting changed the course of her life. The stars aligned and the atmosphere shifted the moment Cait met Jeff. The heavens – or 7-Eleven – unlocked a new universe for them both. They became engaged on July 29, 2020 on the same stretch of Cape Cod sand Cait’s family has frequented for generations.

What time should I arrive to the ceremony?

If the weather cooperates, please arrive 45 minutes before the ceremony. The ceremony is accessible from Peach Tree Road. <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/18AKB7oHMk8Jj-aGxPvcldFWTWAKDtx5_/view?usp=sharing" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">See the driving instructions</a>. Guests will take a brief wagon ride from the rear parking to the ceremony site. After the ceremony is over, guests who arrived by ride share, will be transported to the cocktail hour site by wagon. If the weather does not cooperate, please arrive 30 minutes before the ceremony, and park at the main entrance off of Comus Road.&nbsp;

What is the dress code?

Our dress code is semi formal (cocktail dresses, jumpsuits, suits and ties, button up shirts and khakis). Our venue is a working farm. We strongly suggest wearing or bringing comfortable, low-heeled footwear. Stylish sneakers are also acceptable.

Will the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception take place indoors or outdoors?

To ensure the safety of our guests, we are closely monitoring the coronavirus’ community spread and local protocols.&nbsp; At this time, the ceremony and cocktail hour are expected to take place outside. The reception will likely be inside. These plans are subject to change. For your comfort, we recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, bug spray and a light jacket or sweater.

What will the weather be like?

Temperatures range from 60s to 80s in June. Located just a few miles from Sugarloaf Mountain, wind can also be a factor. A light sweater or jacket is recommended.&nbsp;

What will your wedding-day timeline look like?

We've developed two tentative schedules. Please check back closer to the event for an updated schedule. Good weather: 2:00 p.m. Guests arrive at Peach Tree entrance (there’s transportation between the parking lot and reception location. We are recommending guests arrive 45 minutes early to make it to the ceremony site.) 3:00 p.m. Ceremony Begins 3:30 p.m. Ceremony Ends, Guests head back to parking lot and drive over to the Comus Road entrance to park. 4:00 p.m. Cocktail Hour Begins 5:00 p.m. Reception begins. Guests make their way to barn. 6:00 p.m. Dinner starts. 7:30 p.m. Dancing begins. 10:00 p.m. The reception ends. Poor weather: 2:30 p.m. Guests arrive at the Comus Farm entrance. Guests head to a location to be specified at a later date. 3:00 p.m. Ceremony Begins 3:30 p.m. Reception Ends, Guests head to cocktail hour location. 4:00 p.m. Cocktail House begins. 5:00 p.m. Reception begins. How do I get to the wedding venue? Will transportation be provided?

Comus Farm offers guest parking. Transportation will not be provided. Ride shares are available from local hotels.&nbsp;The Hilton Garden inn recommends <a href="https://www.onthetownlimousines.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">On the Town Limousine</a> for groups interested in booking transportation in advance.

Can I bring my kids?

Due to safety concerns, we are trying to limit younger children. However, guests who are traveling far distances and guests with babies are welcome to bring their children.

What type of food will be served?

Light hors de’oeurves will be served during cocktail hour, followed by a BBQ buffet and dessert.

Yes! Party on. A variety of nonalcoholic beverages will also be offered.

The reception will end promptly at 10:00 p.m. in compliance with local noise ordinances.&nbsp;

What health and safety measures will you be taking during the event?

For the safety of our guests, including those who are immune compromised, guests over five years old are required to be vaccinated. Anyone experiencing COVID-like symptoms are encouraged to get tested to confirm their status before attending or stay home. If community spread is increased, the whole event may be moved outdoors.&nbsp;

How will you communicate any updated information before the wedding?

Explore Montgomery County’s Agricultural Reserve or historic Frederick

Washington, D.C. and Baltimore are also both about an hour away. Reach out to us directly for those recommendations. Montgomery County’s Agricultural ReserveSugarloaf Mountain, a small privately owned mountain that’s open to the public is minutes away from the wedding venue.Sugarloaf Mountain is an example of a monadnock — an isolated hill or small mountain rising abruptly from gently sloping or level surrounding land. It is either an outlier to the east of the main mass of Catoctin Mountain, or a root remnant of the ancient Appalachian Mountains. Accessible from the parking lot north closest to the West View, the mountain loop trail offers views of the region’s sprawling and lush farmlands. Though the park is free, a $5 donation is suggested to help maintain the facilities.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.nps.gov/choh/index.htm" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">C&amp;O canal towpath</a> runs through the region. Originally built for mules to tow canal boats through the waterway, it’s now a recreational trail for walking, biking and kayaking (in designated areas). Our favorite canal trails goes through the <a href="https://www.nps.gov/choh/learn/historyculture/themonocacyaqueduct.htm" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Monocacy Aqueduct</a> and <a href="https://www.canaltrust.org/pyv/whites-ferry/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">White’s Ferry</a>. Both locations offer parking and picnic tables. White’s Ferry has a small country store with a restaurant.&nbsp;We also enjoy <a href="https://montgomeryparks.org/parks-and-trails/black-hill-regional-park/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Black Hills Regional Park</a>, which offers picnic areas, volleyball courts, playgrounds, and trails. Canoe, kayak, paddle boards, and rowboats are also available to rent. We love kayaking on Little Seneca Lake. It’s beautiful, peaceful, and more often than not, the waters are calm. Dining and Libations<a href="https://www.smvwinery.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard</a> and <a href="https://www.rocklandsfarmmd.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Rocklands Farm Winery</a> are close to the wedding venue and offer a delectable selection of fine wines in picturesque settings. Charcuterie is available for purchase at both establishments and food trucks are usually on site during the weekend.&nbsp; We recommend the <a href="https://www.thecomusinn.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Comus Inn</a>. About a minute away from Comus Farm, the restaurant boasts serene views of Sugarloaf Mountain, park-like grounds, a delicious selection of farm-to-table nibbles, and an extensive beverage list. The live music can be hit or miss, but it’s a fun spot to spend an afternoon or evening outside with family or friends. Frederick, Maryland<a href="https://www.visitfrederick.org/downtown-frederick/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Downtown historic Frederick</a>, a quaint small town with specialty shops, restaurants, breweries, distilleries, art galleries and trails is nearby. <a href="https://www.businessinfrederick.com/220/Carroll-Creek-Linear-Park" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Carroll Creek Park</a> runs through downtown, offering pretty views, and access to shops, outdoor dining, breweries, and a distillery. Dining<a href="https://www.eatatmaxwells.com/about/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Maxwell’s</a>, a burger joint, is a family hit, as is, <a href="https://www.ilportorestaurant.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Il Porto</a>, a homey Italian restaurant. Civil War HistoryAdmittedly, we’re less well-versed in civil war spots.<a href="https://www.nps.gov/mono/index.htm" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Monocacy Battlefield</a> and the <a href="https://www.civilwarmed.org/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">National Museum of Civil War Medicine</a> (Chelsea’s favorite) are both in Frederick.<a href="https://www.nps.gov/gett/index.htm" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Gettysburg National Military Park</a> and <a href="https://www.nps.gov/anti/index.htm" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Antietam National Battlefield</a> are about 40 minutes away from Frederick. The <a href="https://www.nps.gov/eise/index.htm" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Eisenhower National Historic Site</a>, the farm of General and 34th President Dwight D. Eisenhower, is adjacent to the Gettysburg battlefield as well. The Beroza family enjoyed the tour. (The House’s decor reminded them of Grandma and Grandpa Beroza’s Malta Lane residence.)
