Our Wedding

Jess and Cait met through mutual friends while attending UW-Madison. Although they initially were nervous to talk to each other, as they spent more time together, they realized they had a lot in common and felt the spark. Jess finally got the courage to ask Cait on a date, and on April 5th, 2023, the two of them went to the campus art museum and ate cheap (but wonderful) sushi. Afterword, the two didn't want the date to be over, so they went to Jess's apartment a few blocks away and watched movies late into the night.

After only a few weeks, Cait asked Jess to be their partner. Although they had attempted to be subtle around their friend group, no one could deny that the two had chemistry and they were not surprised to learn that they were together.

On June 30, 2024, Jess and Cait took a ferry to Washington Island to see the lavender field. Jess had a little surprise in store for Cait- once in the field, Jess set up their phone and started recording so they could "have pictures of the two of them" without needing to ask someone else. A minute later, they got down on one knee and asked Cait to be their life-long partner. Cait enthusiastically said yes and revealed to Jess that they had hoped they would propose in the lavender field and had a gut feeling that it would happen.

The two of them have been through several major changes in their lives, and each ebb and flow has only made their relationship and love for each other stronger. They joke that their relationship moved quickly in true lesbian fashion, but their bond is undeniable and they know that they are each other's other-halves. They planned their wedding for October, as they both love autumn for the fall foliage, cooling temperatures, and of course, their shared favorite holiday- Halloween.
