How We Came To Be


We met on move in day at Illinois State. It is a funny story actually, well not so funny but many things randomly fell into place to allow these souls to meet. Caitlins original room assignment was the Girls Volleyball team floor. Two weeks before move in Caitlin received a random message from some girl asking to switch rooms. Caitlin thought this was a really strange request but turned to her dad to get his advice as she often does. He said I dont see why you wouldnt and so she did. Rather than being on the 5th floor she ended up on the 8th floor.
During this time Adrian had everything planned out how his room would be laid out, and he had meticulously planned it so he was on the same floor as a few high school friends.
Move in day came so quick, Adrians family went down to ISU early in the morning moved him up, said their goodbyes and left him be.
Caitlins family helped her move had lunch and said their goodbyes. During lunch, Caitlin received some brotherly advice to keep your door open the first week of move in to help meet people, his advice is not always as well received but she decided to give it a try and see what happened. And that is exactly what happened..
Caitlins neighbor stopped in to say hi and introduce herself, they talked quickly and she was off. Not even 5 minutes later the neighbor came back to my door but with this sweet soul, Caitlin felt an instant connection no matter how hard she faught it. Caitlin was not instantly attracted to Adrian, but there was just such a pull between our souls we just needed to see what it could be.
Caitlin was sure she wanted to find out what that feeling was. Adrian on the other hand had a little more convincing to do.
As time went on Adrian started spending more and more time with Caitlin, forgetting to leave her side. There became a point when we saw each other more and more and before we knew it we were spending every day together. Their relationship bloomed and blossomed, Adrian was picking up Caitlin from class walking his bike next to him just to walk with her. He was waiting until Caitlin got back each night before going to sleep because he couldnt knowing she was out.
Even still, it took Caitlin asking Adrian 3 times to date her, before he decided he that Caitlin was so passionate and insistent there must be a reason. So the same night he rejected her for the 3rd time, he asked her to go for a walk with him. Caitlin was frustrated and confused and really wanted nothing to do with him. He knew this, but knew he knew he was really just scared and wanted to take that leap of faith. We Thank God each day that something inside her convinced Caitlin out of her dorm room to hear Adrian out.
Now, after 8 long, short, loving, learning years they are so glad they did and are so grateful for how we seemed to just fall into place with each other.




Cómo Llegamos a Ser
Nos conocimos el día de la mudanza en Illinois State. En realidad, es una historia divertida, bueno, no tan divertida, pero muchas cosas encajaron al azar para permitir que estas almas se encontraran. La habitación asignada originalmente a Caitlin era el piso del equipo de voleibol femenino. Dos semanas antes de mudarse, Caitlin recibió un mensaje aleatorio de una chica pidiendo cambiar de habitación. Caitlin pensó que era una petición realmente extraña, pero recurrió a su padre para pedirle consejo, como suele hacer. Él dijo: No veo por qué no lo harías, y así lo hizo. En lugar de estar en el quinto piso, terminó en el octavo piso.


Durante este tiempo, Adrian tenía todo planeado sobre cómo se distribuiría su habitación, y lo había planeado meticulosamente para estar en el mismo piso que algunos amigos de la secundaria.


El día de la mudanza llegó tan rápido que la familia de Adrian fue a ISU temprano en la mañana, lo subió, se despidió y lo dejó en paz.


La familia de Caitlin la ayudó con la mudanza, almorzaron y se despidieron. Durante el almuerzo, Caitlin recibió un consejo de su hermano y el dijo mantiene la puerta abierta la primera semana de mudanza para ayudar a conocer gente, su consejo no siempre es tan bien recibido pero ella decidió intentarlo y ver qué pasaba. Y eso es exactamente lo que pasó...


La vecina de Caitlin pasó a saludarla y presentarse, hablaron rápidamente y ella se fue. Ni siquiera 5 minutos después, la vecina volvió a mi puerta, pero con esta dulce alma, Caitlin sintió una conexión instantánea sin importar lo mucho que luchó. Caitlin no se sintió atraída instantáneamente por Adrian, pero había tal atracción entre nuestras almas que sólo necesitábamos ver qué podía ser.


Caitlin estaba segura de que quería saber cuál era ese sentimiento. Adrian, por otro lado, tenía algo más que convencer.

Pasó el tiempo, Adrian comenzó a pasar cada vez más tiempo con Caitlin, olvidándose de alejarse de su lado. Llegó un punto en el que nos veíamos cada vez más y, antes de darnos cuenta, estábamos pasando todos los días juntos. Su relación floreció y floreció, Adrian estaba recogiendo a Caitlin de clase caminando en bicicleta junto a él solo para caminar con ella. Estaba esperando hasta que Caitlin regresara cada noche antes de irse a dormir porque no podía saber que ella estaba fuera.


Aún así, Caitlin tuvo que pedirle a Adrian tres veces que saliera con ella, antes de que él decidiera que Caitlin era tan apasionada e insistente que debía haber una razón. Entonces, la misma noche que la rechazó por tercera vez, le pidió que saliera a caminar con él. Caitlin estaba frustrada y confundida y realmente no quería tener nada que ver con él. Él lo sabía, pero sabía que en realidad estaba asustado y quería dar ese acto de fe. Damos gracias a Dios cada día porque algo dentro de ella convenció a Caitlin de salir de su dormitorio para escuchar a Adrian.


Ahora, después de 8 años largos, cortos, amorosos y de aprendizaje, están muy contentos de haberlo hecho y muy agradecidos por cómo parecieron encajar el uno con el otro.

We planned a trip to Disney during Caitlins birthday. Adrian planned on proposing to her while at Disney, he wanted everything to be perfect for Caitlin as that is how he wants everythings to be for her, always. Adrian had never been to Disney before so he did lots of research (maybe too much..) , they stayed with her grandparents for a few days before and after the trip. Before Adrian proposed he was excited to share the news with Caitlins Grandparents, Caitlins Grandmother gave Adrian a few suggestions. But Adrian knew just how he wanted to do it.
He was too nervous to ask Caitlin most of the day, and Caitlin had thought that he had decided to wait until a different park thinking he had some grand plan.
Caitlin ended up being too cold and Adrian ended buying her sweatpants to stay warm. It was only after she had those sweatpants on that he knew it was the perfect time. (Caitlin and Adrian could simply be described as a comfy couple, we would rather wear sweatpants a comfy top watch movies all day rather than going to the bar or even when they do go out their comfort is important to them.) Caitlin had a feeling it would happen during our trip but she figured after changing into sweatpants, and knowing the cute outfits planned for the trip he would surely wait a few more days.
She was completely wrong and couldn’t have been more happy with all the thought and effort he put into it. He waited till the perfect moment to do it in the park just after one of her favorite childhood movie rides, while she was in sweatpants. As much as she likes to roll her eyes at that, she is mostly filled with love and excitement and forever has proposal sweatpants.


Planeamos un viaje a Disney durante el cumpleaños de Caitlin. Adrian planeaba proponerle matrimonio mientras estaba en Disney, el quería que todo fuera perfecto para Caitlin, ya que así es como quiere que todo sea para ella, siempre. Adrian nunca vacacionó en Disney, así que investigó mucho (tal vez demasiado...), se quedaron con sus abuelos unos días antes y después del viaje. Adrian propusiera que estaba emocionado de compartir la noticia con los abuelos de Caitlin y la abuela de Caitlin le dio a Adrian algunas sugerencias. Pero Adrian sabía exactamente cómo quería hacerlo.


Estuvo demasiado nervioso para preguntarle a Caitlin la mayor parte del día, y Caitlin había pensado que había decidido esperar hasta un parque diferente pensando que tenía un gran plan.


Caitlin terminó teniendo demasiado frío y Adrian terminó comprándole sweatpants para mantenerse calientita. Sólo después de ponerse esos sweatpants supo que era el momento perfecto. (Caitlin y Adrian se pueden describir simplemente como una pareja cómoda; preferiríamos usar sweatpants y una camiseta cómoda para ver películas todo el día en lugar de ir al bar o incluso cuando salen, su comodidad es importante para ellos). Caitlin tuvo la sensación de que sucedería durante nuestro viaje, pero pensó que después de ponerse sweatpants y conocer los lindos atuendos planeados para el viaje, seguramente esperaría unos días más.


Ella estaba completamente equivocada y no podría haber estado más feliz con todo el pensamiento y esfuerzo que él puso en ello. Esperó hasta el momento perfecto para hacerlo en el parque, justo después de una de sus películas favoritas de la infancia, mientras ella vestía sweatpants. Por mucho que le guste poner los ojos en blanco ante eso, en su mayor parte está llena de amor y emoción y siempre tiene sweatpants de propuesta.
