Our Favorite Things To Do In/Around Lisbon
Praca do Comercio
Waterside public plaza lined with outdoor cafes and shops.
Avenida da Liberdade
Major avenue in central Lisbon known for its luxury shops, hotels, and restaurants.
Tram 28
The famous yellow tram that takes riders through historic neighborhoods like Alfama, Baixa, and Graca. The 40-minute, hop-on hop-off ride includes stops at historical sites like the castle and cathedral.
Sports
March is the heat of fútbol season and Sporting CP and Benfica, two of the most successful Portuguese clubs, play just down the road from each other in Lisbon. If making the trip to Porto, FC Porto is another successful club in the Primeira Liga.
LX Factory

Sintra
Accessible by train or car, this town in the foothills of Portugal’s Sintra Mountains, this former royal sanctuary is known for its pastel villas and palaces.
Palacio Nacional da Pena - One of Europe’s finest palaces with a vividly painted exterior, it has been restored to how it appeared in 1910.
The Gardens of Pena Palace - The lush forest and landscape that surrounds the Palace and compliments the Romantic architecture style.
Cascais
Just a short train ride (~1 hour) from Lisbon, Cascais is a coastal resort town known for its sandy beaches and 19th-century villas.
Santa Marta Lighthouse
Downtown: Walk through the colorful downtown center filled with restaurants, cafes, and shops
Paredau de Cascais - Coastal footpath that connects Cascais to Estoril

Nazaré
Known for its big waves and is a popular destination for surfing, it is also one of Portugal’s most famous fishing villages. Experience the fresh catch at one of Nazaré’s waterside restaurants.
Peniche
Another great port-town on the coast with fresh seafood and beach access. For those interested in getting in the water, surfing is an option in this 16th century village.
Óbidos
A beautifully preserved medieval walled town, Óbidos is well worth the visit. Check out the many shops, restaurants, and locally crafted goods.
Golf
Portugal is home to many resort style golf courses, which Michael has enjoyed during his time visiting Debi and Eddie. Eddie is a member of the courses below, all of which are based in the Praia D’El Rey resort.
