The easiest way to tell our story would be in one sentence. Mark worked as a medic where I was completing my Emergency Medicine Residency and the rest is history. However, that would leave out all of the fun details. We truthfully met on Facebook after Mark saw my profile under "people you should know" and added me as a friend.

We were both dating other people at the time and just became good friends. Our friendship definitely had some highs and lows - mostly me trying to avoid shifts with him on the medic truck when he made me mad (which is not hard to do with my temper, I admit).

I just could never stay mad for long and ended up adopting his English Bulldog, Champ - who I lovingly renamed Fredrick. Unfortunately my family suffered a tremendous loss during a tragic house fire and we lost our beloved animals - Buster, Duchess and Fred. Mark was there immediately, helping to pick up the pieces. He became a part of my family and in the process, we fell in love more than anyone could have ever predicted. Although to his credit - he does say he knew he loved me from the beginning...

He planned an amazing proposal, surrounded by my entire family on Easter Sunday. He picked me up from work after a pretty brutal overnight shift. I was my typical grumpy post-nightshift self but even happier because I had somehow managed to give myself a corneal abrasion. I got home and passed out but woke up just in time for a nice holiday dinner - in pajamas! Mark so sweetly told me I had to change into something more acceptable (that went over well). He had made me a special Easter basket full of engagement trinkets. As our song was playing in the background, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. It's all a blur now but I couldn't believe he was really doing it - right then, one eye and all! Easiest yes of my life.
