It was a dark and stormy&nbsp;Sunday afternoon in January of 2017.&nbsp;Tyler and Caitlin,&nbsp;along with the rest of the student body&nbsp;at the University of Alabama, rushed after church to the only coffee shop in town that stayed open on Sundays: O'Henry's.&nbsp;

Caitlin and her friend shuffled in from the rain, books in hand,&nbsp;and&nbsp;huddled in the corner of the crowded shop. They&nbsp;desperately searched&nbsp;for even a small space to&nbsp;to sit and study,&nbsp;to no avail. Caitlin&nbsp;was about to give up&nbsp;when&nbsp;she scanned the room one last time&nbsp;and her gaze met that of a very cute boy in a flannel shirt, green jacket&nbsp;and Bean boots. She recognized him&nbsp;but couldn't quite figure out why.&nbsp;





After a moment, the boy finally lifted his hand and waved the girls over. He and his friend were sharing a four-top table, and offered to share the space with Caitlin and her friend. After introducing himself as Tyler Thompson, he asked Caitlin if she went to Capstone Church.&nbsp;





That's where I know him!&nbsp;She thought.&nbsp;And she told him&nbsp;she did.&nbsp;Tyler and Caitlin&nbsp;spent the rest of the afternoon studying, talking briefly with the students around them, sipping on warm coffee,&nbsp;and sneaking glances at one another. He was&nbsp;really&nbsp;cute. What she didn't know was that Tyler had actually&nbsp;noticed her weeks ago at church and around town&nbsp;and he had been waiting for a good opportunity to talk to her.&nbsp;





Sunday afternoons at O'Henry's quickly&nbsp;became a regular occurrence&nbsp;and&nbsp;eventually turned into chatting at&nbsp;church and exchanging phone numbers (purely for&nbsp;making&nbsp;study&nbsp;plans, of course). Before long, Tyler and Caitlin were talking almost everyday, until he finally built up the courage&nbsp;to ask her on a coffee date&nbsp;-&nbsp;minus the books this time. They chatted and laughed&nbsp;over&nbsp;coffee&nbsp;for three hours and both left knowing&nbsp;that this was no ordinary date, but perhaps the beginning of something special.





A few weeks later, Tyler and Caitlin made things official and would enjoy&nbsp;several more dates, coffee shops and road trips&nbsp;for another year and a half before deciding to take things one step further... 





How He Asked Growing up, Caitlin and her family spent many a vacation in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, a landscape that had become as familiar as home to her over the years. Colorado was Caitlin's favorite place in the world, so naturally&nbsp;she wanted to share it with her favorite person in the world. The Heffleys planned to spend Labor Day weekend in Vail, Colorado, and invited Tyler to come along. At this point, both had embarked upon&nbsp;their&nbsp;post-grad journeys&nbsp;-Tyler at Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston Salem, and Caitlin as Content Editor&nbsp;at Buckner International in Dallas. Although she was beside herself about the trip with her long-distance boyfriend, what Caitlin&nbsp;didn't know was that&nbsp;this would be even&nbsp;more exciting than she&nbsp;expected.





On Saturday, September 1, after&nbsp;breakfast and coffee with the family, Jennifer, Caitlin's mom, suggested that the couple go on a hike and spend some time together, since they didn't get to see each other often. Tyler had chosen a trail that&nbsp;a&nbsp;local had described as "moderate" (it was not moderate) and&nbsp;had a beautiful overlook of the mountain range.&nbsp;





About an hour later, they finally made it to the top of the mountain and settled at a picnic table to catch their breath and take in the views. Caitlin expected they would stay for a few minutes, but she became confused when Tyler was unwilling to leave. Unbeknownst to her, he was waiting for the few other hikers to clear the area because he had an important question to ask.





In an effort to get the show on the road, Caitlin stood up to leave and explore the rest of the area. Suddenly, Tyler&nbsp;grabbed both of her hands, and began to tell&nbsp;her&nbsp;about&nbsp;all&nbsp;the&nbsp;reasons&nbsp;he&nbsp;loved&nbsp;her&nbsp;and&nbsp;wanted&nbsp;to&nbsp;be&nbsp;together,&nbsp;before getting down on one knee and presenting her with the most beautiful ring she had ever seen. 





She didn't have to think twice before practically shouting,&nbsp;"YES!" and they hurried down the mountain to celebrate.

Scott lives in Portland, Maine, and is Tyler's oldest brother and best man. Tyler and Scott met in 1995 and have been&nbsp;pretty close friends since.

Alyssa is from Dallas, Texas, and plays the roles of&nbsp;&nbsp;big sister,&nbsp;best friend, sorority great grand-big, and now&nbsp;Maid of Honor. She is an ambitious spirit with a heart of gold and a warm smile, and she makes the best brownies you've ever tasted. Alyssa has been there through thick and thin, so you can count on her&nbsp;for all the&nbsp; embarrassing stories about Caitlin.

Alyssa Heffley

Stevie is a student at UNC-Chapel Hill and is Tyler's youngest brother and built-in friend. When Stevie and Tyler met, they partied like it was 1999, because it was.&nbsp;

Stevie Thompson

Alex and Caitlin met in Mr. Bellows' 3rd grade class at Prosper Elementary School&nbsp;and were instant best friends. From coordinating halloween costumes to singing in&nbsp;church choir together, to both&nbsp;attending the University of Alabama, they've pretty much been inseparable. Alex is&nbsp;currently pursuing her dreams at Columbia University in New York City.

Alex DeKinder

Ally is from Prosper, Texas, and is one of Caitlin's best friends. She has always been the life of the party&nbsp;and a loyal friend,&nbsp;and she never fails to&nbsp;make everyone&nbsp;laugh. Even through long-distance friendship in college&nbsp;to&nbsp;working full-time jobs as graduates, Caitlin and Ally have remained the closest of friends and have yet to miss a season of the bachelorette.&nbsp;

Ally McCurry

Brian is from Birmingham, Alabama, and is one of Tyler's best friends. He and Tyler met their first&nbsp;year at the University of Alabama when they were roommates in the freshman honors dorm.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Brian Cook

Bekah is from Prosper, Texas, and has been one of Caitlin's best friends for as long as she can remember. Bekah is always down for a breakfast date or a bachelorette watch party, and you can look to her for all the latest trends. From pulling pranks in high school to plotting and scheming as adults, Bekah has always been Caitlin's partner in crime.

Bekah Arredondo

Jordan is from Columbus, Ohio, and not only&nbsp;Tyler's only&nbsp;brother-in-law, but a good friend as well.&nbsp;

Jordan Nader

Chris lives in Seattle, Washington, and is one of Tyler's closest friends. He and Tyler met at North Oldham Middle School in Louisville, Kentucky.&nbsp;

Chris Chen

Bailey is from Nashville, Tennessee, and is Caitlin's adventurous best friend. She and Caitlin have known each other since middle school but became inseparable by the time they graduated high school. Bailey is a compassionate and kind spirit and can tell you anything you need to know about flowers (she even works at the infamous Amelia's Flower Truck!)

Bailey Higgins

Thomas is from Wilmington, Delaware,&nbsp;and is one of Tyler's oldest friends. The two met as preschoolers in Fort Madison, Iowa, and eventually ended up at the University of Alabama as freshman roommates.

Thomas Lengel

Deanna lives in Chapel Hill, NC, as a student at the University of North Carolina. She&nbsp;and Caitlin&nbsp;first met in May of 2017 when Caitlin went home with Tyler for the first time. Deanna has the sweetest heart, an infectious laugh&nbsp;and makes everyone feel welcome. She is Caitlin's future sister-in-law and&nbsp;she has already made&nbsp;a fantastic&nbsp;friend.&nbsp;

Deanna Thompson

Danielle is from Columbus, Ohio, and is Caitlin's future sister-in-law. A fellow Bama alum, Danielle&nbsp;first met Caitlin&nbsp;in Fall 2017 when she and her husband, Jordan came to Tuscaloosa for the Tennessee game. Danielle is one of the kindest, friendliest and most organized&nbsp;people you'll ever meet.&nbsp;Caitlin can't wait to have another big sister in Danielle!

David is from Louisville, Kentucky, and is one of Tyler's long-time friends. He and Tyler met in 7th grade at North Oldham Middle School and have remained close friends.
