Things to Do, FAQs, and Jeff's Taco Reviews

¡Viva la vacación!

Get ready to turn our wedding into a tropical adventure! In Puerto Vallarta, you can sip margaritas on golden beaches, zip-line through lush jungles, stroll the colorful cobblestone streets of the Old Town, or hop on a boat to hidden beaches like Yelapa. Love the outdoors? There are epic hikes with stunning ocean views—like the scenic trail from Boca de Tomatlán to Playa Las Ánimas, where you’ll wind through the jungle and pass secret coves and beach bars. Or take on the hike to Mirador de la Cruz for panoramic views of the bay (totally worth the sweat!). Whether you're taco-hopping in town, paddleboarding at sunrise, dancing on the Malecón, or exploring lush mountain trails, Puerto Vallarta is all about fun, sun, and unforgettable memories.

Puerto Vallarta isn’t just paradise for grown-ups—it’s a playground for kids, too! Little adventurers can build sandcastles on the beach, splash around in resort pools, or take a pirate ship cruise (yes, with real pirates, sword fights, and treasure hunts!). For active kiddos, there are nature hikes, horseback rides, and even zip-lining suited for younger thrill-seekers. And when it’s time to wind down, there’s always ice cream on the Malecón and an ocean sunset to end the day. Fun, sun, and smiles all around!

Best part? Getting around is EASY! You can choose to Uber, walk or take a taxi. Although we recommend renting e-scooters!

Jeff's Taco Reviews

This is not a comprehensive list of your dining options amigos, taco it with a grain of salt.

Tacos Mula terca

Ate here twice, once for dinner to celebrate our engagement. These are the best Al Pastor tacos I've ever had, the chef makes the tortillas fresh for each order, including a heart-shaped one when he found out we'd just been engaged. Amazing quesofundido, but unfortunately no alcohol. Only about 5 minutes from the resort, a must-visit.

10/10

The Blue Shrimp Puerto Vallarta

Where we got engaged! Didn't eat here, but the view and the setting is incredible, right on the beach.

Place to propose to the love of your life: 10/10

Pepes Taco

When you ask around where to go, this is where you'll often be pointed. Great tacos, fun atmosphere. Perfect place for a few tacos and cervezas.

8/10

La Matona Tacos & Grill

Ok. With many other options around your pesos are better spent elsewhere.

5/10

Birriería El Tío Toño

Specializing in birria tacos, which they nail. Absolutely worth one visit for just the birria tacos.

9/10

Los Tacos De Carnitas

A little out of the way, really only have carnitas tacos on the menu, and not planned with tourists in mind (come with your Spanish translation book ready). If you're specifically looking for good carnitas they're definitely worth a visit.

Why We Chose Las Palmas by the Sea

Las Palmas by the Sea is the perfect spot for both families and adults looking to unwind in paradise. There’s even a family-friendly pool so parents can relax knowing the kids are safe and having a blast. And this is a 100% Mexican owned resort!

Even better? There’s a supervised kids’ camp! Drop them off guilt-free and head to the adults-only pool or the oceanfront hot tub (also adults only). The hot tub is the perfect place to sip a cocktail, soak in the view, and watch the sunset in peace.

FAQs

How much will it cost?

Yes! We are very mindful of costs for everyone and did our best to choose a place that’s as affordable as possible, especially since we have friends and family traveling from Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, and the United States. Choosing a location that worked for everyone was definitely tricky!

As for flights, it’s a bit hard to predict prices this far in advance and costs will vary depending on which airport you’re flying from. We encourage you to consider using travel points if you have them, as that can often make things more budget-friendly.

The resort offers a wedding rate from Wednesday, November 25, through Saturday, November 28, at $187USD per person based on double occupancy, which includes food and drinks. The children’s rates during that period are $130USD for ages 13–17 and $75USD for ages 5–12, also including meals. For the rest of the stay—from November 22 to 25 and again on November 28 to 29—the regular rate of $155USD per person applies and includes food and drinks as well. Since the total stay is seven nights (November 22–29), that means four nights at $155USD and three nights at $187USD per adult. This comes to approximately $1,181USD per adult for the entire stay, or $2,362USD for two adults. For children, the total would be $1,010USD for those aged 13–17 and $845USD for those aged 5–12.

How do we get to the resort?

Great question! You’ve got a few easy options: Uber is available and reliable. Taxis are plentiful at the airport—no need to book in advance. Whichever way you choose, you’ll be sipping margaritas poolside in no time!

Should I bring cash?

Yes! While most places in Puerto Vallarta accept credit cards, having some cash (in pesos) is super helpful for: Tipping (servers, housekeeping, drivers, etc.) Smaller shops, markets, or local restaurants that may not take cards Taxis, which are often cash-only Beach vendors or street snacks (don’t miss the churros!) Tips: Bring pesos, not USD—locals prefer it, and you'll usually get a better deal. You can exchange money at home before your trip or use a local ATM (bank-affiliated ones are best for good rates). Let your bank know you're traveling to avoid card issues. You don’t need a ton of cash, but having some on hand makes things smoother—and more fun!

Should we bring gifts?

We’ve been asked about gifts, and our answer is simple: Please don’t. We’re incredibly grateful that you’re traveling to celebrate with us—your presence is truly the greatest gift we could ask for. No presents, no pressure—just bring good vibes!

Can I bring my kids?

Yes—absolutely! We love your kids and definitely want them there. We specifically chose a family-friendly resort so everyone, big and small, can have a great time. That said, if you’d prefer to leave the kids at home and turn this into a romantic getaway, go for it! Whether you’re coming as a family or as a couple, we promise it’ll be a fun, memorable celebration for everyone.

Can I stay later or come earlier?

Absolutely! We will be there from November 22 - 29, but you're more than welcome to stay the dates that work best for you. Just remember that the wedding is November 26!

What is the dress code?

Whatever makes you feel fabulous! Want to finally wear that ballgown collecting dust in your closet? Go for it. Feeling like keeping it chill in your best beachwear? Also great. We’ll be celebrating outdoors in warm weather, so think comfortable, festive, and you. No strict dress code here—just come ready to have fun, dance, and maybe get a little sandy.

Can we stay somewhere else?

Yes, except to access the resort for the wedding you will need to pay a resort fee.
