We met for the first time around the middle of 2020. He was a regular at Dutch Bros and I just happened to transfer to the stand he frequented. I thought he was cute but I was in a relationship so I didn't think much of it. We only spoke a little that year, just casual “hellos” and “what can I get you today?” - although he always got a light iced kicker. Over the next year, we never saw each other. Different life events getting in the way and Dutch Bros pricing keeping him from coming through the line. I had moved to a stand in a different part of town in 2021 and in the beginning of January 2022, almost like fate, he came through the line of the new stand I was at, one morning before work. I, of course, recognized him instantly, he did not. In his defense, I had green hair when he knew me the year prior but had gone back to my original color since then. Once he realized who I was he said “It's about time I get your number then, huh?”. He then immediately asked to take me on a date, and that very first date felt like the beginning of forever. We have been inseparable since.
Around Christmas last year, we went up to visit my family. While up there, I wanted to go skiing and the only mountain open was Lookout Pass about an hour away. It was Nathanael's first time snowboarding and after a few runs down the mountain we decided to go up for one last run before heading back. Once at the top of the chairlift he went down to buckle his boot in, and I was absently staring off. He waited till no one was around and called my name. I looked down and he was holding out a ring, I screamed, tried to jump out of my skis, definitely fell over, but shouted "YES!" and we were engaged.
