Hey everyone!
It’s Caitlin here — and I’m so excited to share a little bit about the love story Matthew and I have been writing (whether he realized it or not) since 2009.

We first met in the 10th grade at McKeel Academy, and let’s just say… it wasn’t exactly love at first sight. After a very awkward introduction, I spent the rest of the school year doing everything I could to get him to notice me — while he spent the rest of the school year doing everything he could to avoid me. In his words, I was the “popular cheerleader” and he was the “skater kid who hated school.” Opposites? Definitely. Meant to be? Absolutely.

Somewhere between dodging each other in the hallways and carving pumpkins at his mom’s kitchen table (with pumpkin guts flying everywhere), something shifted. That day, Matthew asked me to be his girlfriend — and 16-year-old Caitlin basically lost her mind that her high school crush actually liked her back.

Since then, life has been a wild ride. We’ve supported each other through all the highs, lows, and questionable car part purchases. (Seriously, if you think choosing a wedding dress is hard, try deciding if you want to be bagged or static.) Through every season of life, we’ve been each other’s biggest fans.

Fast forward to my 30th birthday: we were on a cruise to Cozumel, and Matthew completely surprised me by proposing — cue the ugly crying and happy dancing. Of course, I said yes (and somehow managed not to fall overboard).

Now, as we start this next chapter, our dream is simple: build a home full of laughter, love, adventure, and maybe one day a driveway full of project cars. Above all, we want to keep growing the friendship that started it all.

We’re so grateful for all of you — our family and friends — who have loved and supported us through every step of our story. We can’t wait to celebrate this day with you and kick off the rest of our forever, surrounded by the people who mean the most.
