Caitlin and Roy met the modern way: at a mutual friend's birthday party at a brewery in downtown Oakland in 2019. Roy was immediately drawn to her radiant energy and charming positivity; Caitlin was blown away by his unorthodox wit and sense of humor.

In typical fashion, Roy didn't have the courage to ask for her number directly. Rather, he enlisted the help of a friend to get it a few days later.

Their first date took place on the beautiful island of Alameda. They toured a local arcade, took a stroll on the beach, and found their way back to San Francisco to have dinner at their future favorite restaurant.

The relationship continued between San Francisco and Alameda: surviving a pandemic, Caitlin completing nursing school, roadtrips throughout California, summers and winters in Soda Springs and so much more.

Roy proposed to Caitlin on her birthday, hoping to disguise the plan with a nice dinner (although Caitlin seemed to know all along). The night ended with a great experience at a restaurant overlooking the water and a newly-engaged couple.
