Thomas and Caitlyn’s story began in the fall of 2020. Thomas had recently moved to Columbus with a friend who, as fate would have it, was also close to Caitlyn. She soon found herself spending evenings at their house, chatting and watching movies late into the night. At first, neither Thomas nor Caitlyn thought much of each other romantically—they were so different that a relationship seemed unlikely. But as the days turned into months, they discovered something unexpected: beneath their differences, they shared the same deep values. One ordinary trip to Giant Eagle turned extraordinary when they both realized a spark of attraction. Not long after, Thomas mustered the courage to ask Caitlyn on a date, and she said yes. Their first date was unforgettable—a cozy Italian dinner followed by an adventurous evening of axe throwing. For three months, they enjoyed getting to know each other better. But Caitlyn, still working through past hurts, was hesitant to commit, and they decided to take a step back. For two months, they remained apart—until a Memorial Day weekend trip with friends rekindled their connection. A week later, they had an honest conversation about dating again, and this time, they both knew they couldn’t deny what they had. A week later, they officially became a couple! Over the next year and a half, their love deepened as they learned more about each other. However, like many love stories, theirs was not without its challenges. Caitlyn faced struggles with her mental health that tested their relationship. Realizing things weren’t working as they were, they made the difficult decision to part ways. During their time apart, both sought the Lord’s guidance and experienced profound personal growth. God spoke to each of them in unique ways, healing their hearts and highlighting the same core areas in their relationship that needed transformation. After three months, neither could stay away. Thomas and Caitlyn decided to go see a movie together—what they both jokingly knew was a “terrible idea.” But that evening turned into a long, heartfelt conversation. They prayed, sought the Lord’s will, and two weeks later decided to give their relationship another chance. This time, it truly was a fresh start—marked by grace, intentionality, and a renewed love. Over the next two years, Thomas and Cait grew closer than ever, pursuing one another in new and meaningful ways. A church trip to the Middle East became another milestone in their journey. Inspired by the clarity and growth they’d experienced, Thomas suggested premarital counseling to work through lingering doubts. Through the process, Caitlyn found peace and readiness for the next step. Together, they designed a custom engagement ring that reflected their unique love story. When the moment came, Thomas proposed in a magical courtyard, immersed in a sense of peace and joy that only God could provide. Now, they look forward to building a life together, one filled with faith, growth, and a love that has been refined and strengthened every step of the way.
