“Love is friendship that has caught fire.”


It all started on the first day of kindergarten back in 2005 when we were both 5 years old. We grew up side by side never taking a second glance at one another. All the things we did together, yet separately. Playing on the same playground, attending the same classes, playing in pep band, hanging out with the same friend group. At one point, we had even made a marriage pact – if we weren’t married by the time we were 29, we would marry each other. Then we graduated high school and went our separate ways.


Then came 2020. Our high school friend group started coming together again for each other’s weddings, naturally leading us together. At one of these weddings, a friend took our picture. While taking the picture, he said “I’m calling it, in a few years, these will turn into engagement photos”. To which we laughed and said “yeah right, okay”. Here's that picture, and here we are today!

That August, another friend of ours got married in the Black Hills. This same friend group got a big house in the woods for all of us to share. These friends clearly saw something between us that we weren’t aware of. So much so, they started placing bets on when we would become “official”. I don’t know how many times they asked us, “Will you just date each other already?” “When are you going to ask her to be your girlfriend?”

After this weekend filled with late night talks, stargazing, and laughing together, we started to understand what they were talking about. Because after this weekend, we became inseparable. Another two months and we became “official” on October 30, 2020.

Our 4 years together have been filled with so much fun, adventure, and lots of giggles. Turns out, we never needed that marriage pact!

We are excited to see where our next adventure of marriage will bring us!
