Picture of Our Story

Caleb and Rachel's story began at Bible camp the summer before sixth grade. At just 11 years old, these two formed an instant connection, meeting each morning at a bench swing to talk and watch the sunrise. Other memories from camp include Rachel chasing Caleb around to hit him with a giant pixy stick, and Caleb tackling Rachel in the mud pit every chance he got. Throughout their middle school years, they remained close friends, always together during study hall, summer school, and church events. Despite Caleb's attempts to flirt through kind notes and gifts, Rachel didn't quite catch on.

Before their junior year of high school, Caleb moved to Chinook, Montana. As senior year came to a close, Rachel realized how much she missed Caleb and invited him to visit before they both shipped out for military training. It was during this visit that Caleb asked Rachel to be his girlfriend, making it official on April 29th, 2018. He left the next day, and thus began their four-year journey of a long-distance relationship.

Over the years, they relied on prayers, letters, phone calls, and numerous trips by plane, bus, and train to stay connected. Finally, in 2023, Caleb completed his military service, and Rachel flew to Texas one last time to drive home with him. To celebrate their first summer together, they set out to canoe the Namekagon River.

On the third night of the trip, Caleb waded into the river and caught some smallmouth bass. Rachel was very impressed and stated that she could watch him fish for the rest of their lives. Little did she know, Caleb had plans to propose. That night he would treat her to a fish fry dinner and a campfire on the riverbank. Then, as Rachel was flossing the fish out of her teeth, she turned around to see Caleb on one knee holding a beautiful ring!

What an incredible journey it has been already. C+R are deeply grateful for the love they share and are committed to honoring God through their marriage. Please join us as we celebrate this joyous occasion!
