Caleb and I met on Sunday, September 10th, 2023. I was in my second year at OneLife, and Caleb had graduated the year before. He and a few friends came back to visit the campus and meet the new class. Unbeknownst to me, Caleb had a mission: to find a girl. Ironically, I had the exact opposite goal—I was determined not to date anyone that year. We met that day and ended up in a group walking around downtown Greenville. I found myself talking to him the entire time. We joked around, and the conversation flowed pretty well. Then I found out he was from Canada—and I LOVED Canada, so that pretty much sealed the deal for me.
Even though I liked him, I stayed committed to my dating fast and hoped he’d be willing to wait. As we continued to talk and spend time together, Caleb surprised me with tickets to see Cody Fry, my favorite artist—and then he asked me out.
I told him no.
I explained why, and he responded with kindness and calm confidence, simply saying:
“You should pray about it.”
So I did. After a few weeks of reflection and conversations with mentors, I felt peace about moving forward—and said yes.
We dated for a year and a half, shared road trips, plane rides, and a lot of life. Eventually, Caleb proposed while playing “I Hear a Symphony” by Cody Fry—bringing it all full circle.
Now, we’re stepping into this next season together and are so excited to celebrate it with you!!
