Prior to meeting, Caleb and Sophia didn't have the greatest impressions of each other. All he knew was how much she'd packed for staff one year, which was enough to scare anybody off. All she had heard were some interesting stories from his wild days, definitely not her type. So when they pulled into the Yonker's driveway on February 16th, 2023 to go on a service weekend up to Upper Peninsula Bible Camp, the total of their first conversation was

"You must be Sedlik"

"Yep"

"It's cold, I'm going into the garage"

They spent a lot of time together that weekend, both enjoying each others sense of humor. At some point during the weekend Caleb managed to lose his phone, and needed Sophia to call it. Talk about a sneaky way to get a girl's number. Over the weekend Caleb did some job at trying to impress her, managing to knock the ladder down, stranding them on a roof clearing snow until someone came to the rescue. Sophia experienced her first Sedlik car ride that weekend. As soon as she remembered all the stories her words to him were "I must be crazy to drive with you." Well all ended well. and by the end of the weekend Sophia had already had to call him to ask a car question, which he easily solved. Apparently his interest in her was apparent to everyone on the trip. Everyone, that is, except Sophia herself.

They hadn't been home for maybe 24 hours before he sent her a text saying how much he'd enjoyed hanging out all weekend and wanted to be friends. She agreed and they began to talk frequently. Next thing anyone knew (as in the following weekend, they didn't waste any time) Caleb suddenly started showing up anywhere Sophia was, and making mysterious trips out to Spring Arbor multiple days a week. Neither of them were ready to admit their feelings to each other, but their friends started to get suspicious. Finally Caleb confessed his feelings to Sophia, which she reciprocated, and a few weeks later, on March 28th, they began dating.

They were far from the most expected couple around, but quickly discovered how much they enjoyed each other's company. Less than a year later they decided that marriage was what they wanted. They fought through a lot of ups and downs, but finally, on February 22nd, they went back to camp, the place where it all began. They went out snowshoeing, and as they were getting back, Caleb completely surprised Sophia when he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him!

"You're the only guy I know who can go from telling his girlfriend to calm down to engaged in 5 minutes"- Caleb Yonker

"Well boys, we lost another one"- Nathan Mayer, as they were jumping up and down hugging after she said yes

" Alright folks move along"- Caleb Sedlik after he realized everyone was still watching them after the proposal

"So last weekend Caleb took a trip to the UP. I heard you bought a boat?"

"Yep"

"Heard you blew a transmission on the Mackinaw Bridge?"

"Yep"

"And I heard you got engaged to my daughter?"

"Yes I did."
