Meg first laid eyes on Caleb when he and his mom were touring Crestview Middle School right before moving to Indiana from New Jersey. They were touring the building for Hannah, Caleb's younger sister, who would be enrolling in her seventh-grade year in the middle of fall semester. Meg was in choir class in the auditeria and saw her mom giving a tour to a tall boy with the curliest hair she had ever seen. She found him super cute. Little did she know, her mom had gone to high school with his dad, and his little sister Hannah would become one of her middle school best friends. Mrs. McDonald was the first person Caleb met in Huntington.

Meg and Caleb went to high school together, only really knowing each other through Hannah. They both dated other people throughout high school, but Meg always found Caleb cute. Hannah was very disturbed by this. Caleb decided to attend Huntington University to play soccer. In the fall of 2019, Meg went on a visit to Huntington University. Caleb saw Meg on the tour outside of his classroom window while class was ongoing, and excused himself for the "bathroom". He watched until Meg, her mom, and the tour guide were out of sight. Meg was not the only one who had found the other cute. In that moment, he knew he wanted to get to know her better.

In the following spring, Meg also decided to attend Huntington University for athletics. Meg's commitment to the University took place right before Covid-19 hit, around the same time Caleb went on a life-changing mission trip to India. A couple of months of quarantine and singleness passed when Caleb decided he was going to ask Meg out on a date. He asked his sister, Hannah, if she would be comfortable with him dating one of her friends. When she inquired a bit more and found out he was interested in asking Meg, she gave him her blessing, as she knew Meg had always been a little bit smitten with him.

Caleb decided to call Meg instead of sending a message online. He called once... no answer. He called again right after... no answer. Lastly, he called on his home phone, which was listed under a Huntington number rather than a New Jersey number like his cell phone. It was on the third try that Meg picked up the phone. When Caleb informed Meg who was calling, Meg immediately thought it was a prank call. Why would Caleb Smith, one of her best friends' older brothers, be calling her? During that phone call, Caleb asked Meg out to a sushi dinner, which he knew from Hannah was Meg's favorite food. She skeptically said yes, still expecting to hear laughter in the background because she was still sure this phone call was a dare. It wasn't however; it was the beginning of a relationship between future husband and wife.

Caleb and Meg dated for a little over 2 years and have been engaged for a little less than two on top of that. They cannot wait to spend the rest of their lives with each other, growing as they go. They also cannot wait to celebrate their love with all of you on May 11, 2024!
