Caleb: I was born in California in 2004 while my dad was studying at Master's Seminary and moved back to South Africa when I was 10 weeks old. I grew up in Amanzimtoti along the beach with my 6 siblings and playing all kinds of sports (swimming, running, rugby). After going to Bob Jones University for freshman year of college, I transferred to John Brown University in Arkansas where my parents were moving to and started my sophomore year studying Criminal Justice.

Rebecca: I was born in Tyler, Texas in 2005. My family moved to Oaxaca, Mexico when I was 7 where we served as missionaries and my family still lives. I loved growing up surrounded by the beautiful mountains, culture, food, and Spanish! Once I graduated in 2023, the Lord provided and led me to John Brown University where I’m studying Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

How we met: We met at JBU’s International Orientation. From day one, Caleb was set on getting my (Rebecca’s) number and I took a little more time to convince. But with lots of patience, Caleb kept pursuing and eventually after lots of study dates, long walks, some awkward flirting, and a strong friendship, Caleb asked my dad’s permission to date me. Then in November 2023, Caleb planned our first big date!

First official date: The original plan for November 3rd was impressive. A trip to Crystal Bridges Museum, a fancy dinner, a drive back to school, and tickets to the JBU musical set us up for a great night. It started off well but after closed restaurants, a broken-down car, and no way to get food but a library vending machine, we learned pretty quick how little control we have! Despite everything going wrong, we still love to laugh at our first date and really haven’t stopped laughing together since.

Since then, the Lord has been so faithful to lead us, provide for us, and grow us in our love for Him and each other. In the summer of 2024, Rebecca went to stay with her grandmother in Texas and work for the summer while Caleb stayed and worked in Arkansas. The months felt long and slow but strengthened our relationship and left us more confident in the Lord's leading toward marriage.

After attending his Air Force field training for 3 weeks in July, Caleb still had a big task left. He was finally able to meet Rebecca’s family on a visit to Texas and ask her parents' blessing. He executed his proposal plan that had been in the works for months on August 31st at Natural Falls State Park, and she said yes!

Throughout our relationship our biggest prayer is always that God would be glorified through our lives and marriage, however He would desire. We are completely humbled and so grateful for the ways He brought us together and worked in us! We know this is a gift through Him, by Him, and for Him alone.

This is only the beginning, and we can’t wait to trust, depend on, and seek Him together with our lives! Thank you to everyone who has poured into, guided, and supported us. All of you are so special and significant to us and we are grateful to be surrounded by so much love and prayer throughout our lives. We know we are only here by the grace of God, and we CAN’T WAIT to celebrate our wedding day with you all!

Gratefully and joyfully,

Caleb and Rebecca
