Our Wedding

Greg and I are a Bumble love story made in paradise. It was October of 2019 when our algorithms aligned. I was playing in The Annual Hawaii Lacrosse Tournament &amp; my team decided, why not download Bumble? I didn’t use the app much and hadn’t seen that Greg ‘super-liked’ me ‘til 3 months after returning home to Texas. Upon re-downloading the app, I first noticed his sweet smile, hazel eyes &amp; charming heart before sadly realizing that this man lived in the middle of the Pacific Ocean! Though that didn’t seem to stop either of us from engaging in conversation &amp; liking each other’s pictures on Instagram (2020 courtship behavior). It was his unmatched stalker-level 😜 persistence that kept us close as we stayed in touch for 1 year before finally meeting in-person. Being the gentleman he is, Greg flew first to visit me in November of 2020 where he (unknowingly) would pass the test of meeting my friends &amp; classmates at UNMC. As our relationship progressed, I continued to visit Greg in Hawaii where I would soon land a job out of school in August of 2021. He took me to all of his favorite spots, showed me how to live the island life &amp; made sure I never went missing on (another) hike, ever again! 😇 Eventually, with his love, support &amp; encouragement I began working with a coach who insisted I compete in local (bikini) competitions. It was when Id won my first overall trophy (April of 2023) that things started to get really exciting. I was feeling super accomplished with my partner by my side and I thought, wow how can life get any better than this? Thats when Greg saw an opportunity to plan a surprise trip to Kauai after the show. We stayed in Princeville with access to a romantic private beach Not long into our stay, Greg couldnt wait any longer to walk me down to this private beach where Im staring out into the mesmerizing sunset. I was still consumed by the show I had just won &amp; all I could remember thinking was, is this real life? I’m so lucky! Thats when I spun around &amp; BAM, theres my dream guy down on his knee asking me to take home the real win! I was elated as I realized in that moment that I will forever be asking, WOW how can life get any better than this?! To be continued… ❤️

From Bumble to Bride

October of 2019 was when our algorithms first aligned. There was a decision to take a trip out to Oahu to play in The Annual Hawaii Lacrosse Tournament. While the team was out there it was decided, why not download Bumble?,,,,we could meet new people! Little did we know, it was the start of a ripple effect that would one day bring us together. 3 months later, a trip was made home to Wisconsin to see family for Christmas and tell them all about how the move to Hawaii has been. It wasn’t until on the way back to the island where our algorithms would fully align due to an extensive layover in Dallas and a “Super Like”, which are like such a huge deal. Those are meant only for the one you find the most beautiful and kind. That same time around Christmas is when his sweet smile, hazel eyes, and charming looks were noticed before sadly realizing that this man lived in the middle of the Pacific Ocean! Though that didn’t seem to stop either of us liking each other’s pictures on Instagram and eventually engaging in conversation (2020 courtship behavior). It was our unmatched persistence that kept us close as we stayed in touch for 11 more months before finally being able to meet in-person. Being a gentleman, Greg flew out first to Omaha Nebraska in November of 2020 where Caleigh would feel safe meeting this charming young man for the first time. This is also the part where he (unknowingly) would pass the old traditional test of meeting her friends and classmates at UNMC and then her having to battle royal it out for who gets him. Eventually Caleigh won and no one has heard from her classmates again. As our long distance relationship progressed, Frequent trips were taken to visit Greg in Hawaii or visit Caleigh in Omaha where she finished school and eventually would find a job and her current boyfriend on Oahu in August of 2021. He took us around the island to all of ‘his’ favorite spots to make them ‘our’ favorite spots. He showed how to live the island life and made sure his future never went missing on (another) hike, ever again! It was when she’d won her first overall trophy (April of 2023) that things started to get really exciting. She was feeling super accomplished with her partner by her side and she thought, WOW! We are so excited to see everyone and hope that those who are interested will be able to plan their stay using our booking code for a discounted rate at The Hilton Waikiki. The Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki is ~1hr away from the venue (opposite side of the island) and we blocked 25 total rooms. We will have shuttle transportation with a central pick-up location (TBD) once we have a better idea where most guests will be staying. SUGGESTION: if you wish to stay near the venue closer to the wedding date then we recommend booking an AirBnB in the North Shore/Haleiwa area (i.e from June 24 - June 26), and if it makes sense financially then you can book at The Hilton for the remainder of your trip. This way you can be closer to more tourist-friendly attractions, which would be closer to downtown Waikiki. (i.e stay at the Hilton Waikiki for the days leading up to the wedding, book an Airbnb in North Shore for the night before the wedding &amp; then finish your stay back at the Hilton for remaining trip).

Pearl Harbor National Memorial

Spanning 400 acres, this lush garden is surrounded by the Ko'olau Mountain Range. A casual visit will require at least an hour or two, but trekkers usually spend half a day here. Start by exploring the eight tropical gardens, each showcasing plant species from different regions such as Southeast Asia and Polynesia. Avid hikers have the option to tackle various nature trails; keep your eyes peeled for small and large birds, such as the cardinal or egret, amidst the breathtaking scenery. The gardens are worth a visit if you’re in need of a peaceful respite and crisp air. Plus, admission is free.

Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Garden

The trail to the summit of Leʻahi (Hawaiian name for Diamond Head Crater) was built in 1908 as part of Oʻahu’s coastal defense system. Completed in 1911, the Fire Control Station at the summit directed artillery fire from batteries in Waikiki and Fort Ruger outside Diamond Head crater. The walk is a glimpse into the geological and military history of this volcanic crater. Much of the trail is a natural tuff surface with many switchbacks traversing the steep interior slope of the crater wall. The ascent continues up steep stairs and through a lighted 225-foot tunnel. At the summit, you’ll see bunkers on the crater rim and a navigational lighthouse built in 1917 along the coast outside the crater. The postcard view of the shoreline of southeastern Oʻahu from Koko Head to Wai’anae is stunning, and during winter, may include passing humpback whales.

Diamond Head State Monument

This protected marine life conservation area, named after its unique curved bay, is a popular snorkeling spot in Hawaii. Formed within a volcanic cone on the eastern side of Oahu, this marine sanctuary is home to vibrant marine life and well-preserved corals. There is a limited number of visitors allowed in the bay daily, so make a reservation in advance to secure your spot. It's also closed on certain days so remember to check before you go. You can rent snorkeling equipment here—all you have to do is remember to pack some reef-safe sunscreen. Some tours of the North Shore also stop by the bay for a quick photo opportunity.

Experience the local vibe of Duke's Waikiki at OUTRIGGER Waikiki Beach Resort. This iconic restaurant and beach bar is the place to eat, drink, dance, and sing on Waikiki Beach. Celebrate the legacy of surfer and original beach boy Duke Kahanamoku, at Duke's Waikiki - one of the most iconic restaurants in Hawaii. Greg loves the breakfast buffet &amp; Caleigh loves the Coconut Mojito with Mango&nbsp;which is&nbsp;kai coconut shochu, koloa gold rum, mint, lime juice, coconut cream blended with mango. Very delicious drink. One of the best Mojitos ever!

Our favorites: sugar, cinnamon &amp; chocolate-filled.

Ala Moana Center currently features more than 350 stores, including 70 dining options, one of the largest collections of luxury retailers in the world, four major department stores and several only-in-Hawai'i retailers featuring locally-made products and souvenirs. Their food court has a variety of options but keep in mind it can get pretty busy (snag a table as soon as you see one), and don't forget where you parked like we have done many times, the mall really is HUGE!

This spot is a cute, old style township with a nice selection of shops and eateries. It has a quaint style and not too built up. Definitely a good place to stop for a bite and walk around for some traditional surf town 'vibes'. Greg &amp; I like to partake in the paddle board rental/activities before scavenging all of the food trucks nearby.

GOLF COURSES

Though Turtle Bay Resort hugs the northern coastline of Oahu, the Pacific Ocean is only visible from the 17th hole on the Palmer course. The former 100 Greatest Public course has two distinct nines, with a forgiving front nine and a tighter, more demanding back side. Unlike many dramatically undulated Hawaiian layouts, the Palmer course is quite flat, with water in play on 14 holes. The Arnold Palmer design opened in 1992, but the property has quite an interesting history: It was used by the U.S. Army during World War II, with Nos. 15-18 serving as a landing strip and Nos. 5, 6 and 13 housing military personnel. The course hosted a PGA Tour Champions event in the mid 2000s, with Hale Irwin, Fred Funk and Jerry Pate all winning at Turtle Bay.

To reach the top, you will need to hike a steady incline with some scrambling. You'll be rewarded with incredible 360 views from the top. The rocks can be challenging, so make sure you bring some suitable footwear with you on your kayak.

Mokoli'i Island Trail

Length: 0.8miElevation gain: 216ftRoute type: out &amp; backEnjoy this 0.8-mile out-and-back trail near Kaneohe, Oahu. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 27 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking and running, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.This short hike takes you through a rainforest and to a waterfall. Park on the road before the gate to Ko’olau Golf Club. Exercise caution as tickets are issued for vehicles not parked correctly along the road. The falls can also be accessed by parking at the Pali Lookout along Pali Highway (Route 61). The trail can be muddy after heavy rain.

Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 26 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.Very family-oriented, wide, easy, well-graded trail. The only thing to watch out for are the junctions to the pillboxes and when it's raining, it can get slippery. There are a few rope sections that could come in handy when the trail is muddy and slippery. Keep this in mind if you are bringing children. There are many other trails intersecting, which provide the opportunity to take a detour and make it a longer hike.
