Nope! Absolutely your choice where you would like to stay. If you want to stay at the hotel on 3 night discount rate and then stay elsewhere that is an option, or staying nearby in local Airbnb or hotels works great too.

It's not needed, but totally up to you and your plans for your stay in Maui. There is a daily parking fee at the resort to consider. There are ubers and taxi services readily available. We are about a 15-20 min drive from the airport and the island is small with close proximity to attractions and shuttle services available through the hotel.
