This in-place archaeological exhibition is one of the most interesting and important places in the entire eastern United States. The summit of the largest mound, at the southern end of the site, offers a stunning view of the Ocmulgee River valley to the south—a large flood plain where the inhabitants grew corn. Ocmulgee Mounds welcomes numerous visitors each year. Notable historic sites include a Hitchiti village site, the Great Temple Mound, the Earth Lodge, a colonial-era British trading post, Civil War earthworks, and a museum housing over 2,000 artifacts, some dating as far back as 10,000 B.C. The park also contains eight miles of hiking trails.
"Palace of the South"
One of Georgia’s most historic houses and distinguished structures, the Johnston-Felton-Hay House in Macon was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1974. Construction began in 1855 to 1859. The House was built in the Italian Renaissance Revival style, a marked contrast to the Greek Revival architecture of the antebellum period.
This husband and wife team started their dream November 2007 as a small juice and smoothie bar attached to a fitness facility. Boy did they outgrow the space quickly! Natasha, daughter of fine dining matriarch, Natalia del Basso-Orsini, had food and flavor running through her veins. It was only a matter of time before Natasha took on more. Carl, an artist with a flair for food, assisted in growing the business to the "eatery" it has become. Come see Carl's art and taste their fine epicurean fare at their newest space at The Prado. We promise your taste buds will thank you!
