It all started with this instagram post. Freshmen in college Callie Grace was looking for a potential suitor. She stumbled upon the sophomore boy's instagram. The only boy that caught her interest was David Dunlap from Vienna, Virginia... and she said to herself "I could marry this guy." True story.

The night we met... freshmen Callie Grace gets an invite to cute sophomore David's Christmas party. David humbled himself enough to say hi to her, she said hi back. David doesn't remember this, but Callie Grace remembers how exciting it was to have THE David Dunlap introduce himself to her.

Callie Grace gets placed at her dream school River Bluff! David, was leading at sister school Lexington! This is when David remembers meeting CG. He told her welcome! Maybe he gave her a hug? It was awesome. CG thought "good now we HAVE to spend more time together."

CG gets terrible news. Steve Pink calls and tells her that Lexington is merging with River Bluff. David would now be on Callie Grace's team. Why is this so bad? Because! Young Life has a rule that you can't date your teammate! Crushed, CG lets go of her dream of dating David Dunlap... (this is the actual picture she took after she got the call)

CG comes to terms that they won't be able to date, but becomes excited just at the opportunity to do ministry alongside David!

At team dinners, CG couldn't figure out how to speak to David, she couldn't even give him eye contact! Looking at him made her so shy.

this picture was a BIG win for CG!! She wanted a pic with just David but decided to ask for a "teammate" pic to play it safe. She still thought he was cute even with this bad haircut.

slowly but surely, David and Callie Grace formed a friendship. They spent more time together around friends, and even went to the beach for a sunrise! She would still get shy around him, but hoped he would ride in her car to the beach. He played it cool and didn't. For the next 4 months they stayed just friends and it was sweet :)

CG gets broken up with (which was such an answered prayer on her end) and tells David. He goes out of his way to be a good friend and comfort her.

the text that changed everything... Callie Grace texted David after YL club and asked if she could take him home, he was the only one that knew what she was going through and needed someone to listen. This was the first time they spent alone together, and he was a super good listener.

Since that fateful car ride home, David and Callie Grace started to text even more. They were getting to know each other, and every now and then someone would slip in a somewhat flirty text! This was one of the first signs of flirtation... Callie Grace flirted back by facetiming him while she did a covid spit test. Romantic. But he got a kick out of it.

After leaving a movie night at the Dawg House, David gives Callie Grace a long hug goodbye. He tells her "I think I could hug you forever" but then also tries to keep it platonic?

Beginning this night, David starts to flirt over text, a lot happens within a span of 5 days so get ready!

Most of the cute details will be spared but basically David and Callie Grace started to be honest with each other. They communicated about how they really want to know each others hearts but were conflicted about being teammates. An occasional flirt was thrown in there but it was hard to decipher... At this point, Callie Grace def likes David more than friends and David secretly starts to but tries to not.

Alas! a date! Kind of... David asks Callie Grace if she wants to watch something via Netflix party with him (this means they watch the same movie at the same time but from different laptops). She took a picture being all giddy so she could remember this development. David and CG watched "10 things I hate about you."

David and CG hang out in public doing school work together, they also watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 that night at Aloe Vera with David's friends!

Callie Grace comes over to do work for the third night in a row!! When David was done studying, they watched his favorite movie "Oliver and Company"

THE DAY EVERYTHING CHANGED! DAVID KISSED CALLIE GRACE!! EEEEEEPPPPPP!! This kiss was followed by a very long talk that began with "uh oh, so what now" and ended with "wait, so you do like me?" They spent the following week seeking wise counsel, asking permission from Steve Pink and telling teammates one by one. (at this point we've learned by now CG takes pics of everything, she didn't want to forget this moment so this was her "i just was kissed by David selfie")

Callie Grace passes best friend Lauren a note at lunch saying "David kissed me last night" to which Lauren yelled "I knew it! I literally knew it!"

David starts pursuing Callie Grace. They have semi-secret dates together, and spend the first couple weeks of May getting to know each other. Every time they had a date, they would write intentional questions for each other to answer.

While Callie Grace was without her phone at Crooked Creek Ranch, they were still praying about whether or not to make it official. They would write love letters across the country and keep asking get to know you questions.

David asked Callie Grace to be his girlfriend! CG came back for five days before the next camp. They went to a really nice beautiful dinner at Tazza Kitchen, but he didn't ask her there. Then in the car she said "sooo like..." and he asked her to be his girlfriend in the car. To which Callie Grace made him get out of the car and ask her in the grass of his front yard so they would at least have somewhere to show the children.

Their first official pic as a couple! David helped CG paint her room and they slow danced to "Cheek to Cheek" together.

At this point, CG and David had not said "I love you" yet. They knew it was probably too early and wanted to wait for a special moment. So in their letters to each other, they would write "i _ _ _ _ you."

David would visit CG on her off days while she was working at a camp in Clemson. They would go on lots of coffee dates around town!

Callie Grace goes to DC for a hometown date! Suddenly, Callie Grace got very ill and was down bad day 2-5 of the trip. It's funny in hindsight, but traumatizing in the moment. They spent his birthday making pancakes. CG was bedridden the rest of the week. David learned a little too much too quickly about her this trip, but he took really good care of her!
