Fly to Cancun. You will need transportation from the Cancun airport to the Water Taxi. Then take a water taxi from Cancun to Isla Muejeres. An easy way is taxis. They cost either 150 or 200 pesos ($7.50 to &8.25) per ride pretty much for any ride and no matter how many people get into the taxi. For more convenience but more cost, there are plenty of golf carts and mopeds to rent.

It’s really easy to use pesos but most places take dollars. Please note: Most places on the north side take credit cards but on the south side sometimes or often really it is cash only.

Most islanders speak at least some English, many speak English well. If you speak any Spanish it does make it a little easier so brush up on your basic or travel Spanish.
