Our Story

How we met

Picture of How we met

(This is the first photo they took together)

Taylor and Callie met on a dating app called Hinge. For their first date, Taylor picked her up at her sorority house and took her hiking. Everything was going great until he accidentally flung a tree branch into her eye. It scratched her cornea and after that, it kinda killed the vibe. But she just saw something in him that was so different than anyone that she had dated, that she didnt want to give up. She admired His strong faith in God and how important his family was to him which is hard to come by these days!

Thank goodness he asked her out on another date after all of the drama with the tree. Their next date, they went to walk around a lake with his dog Simba and then got Raising canes. After that, Taylor jokingly said its getting better, referring to how the dates were getting progressively better each time from the first date. They connected on how the Lord has gotten them through difficult seasons of life such as divorce, breakup, and losing loved ones.

By the third date, Callie had a feeling that she would marry him! They went to Panera and before eating, Taylor asked if he could pray over our date and the food. Although its a minor detail, being with someone who lead her in faith and in prayer was something that she had always prayed for! He had also won her over when he sent her a video of him burning potato Olays in the oven and sending cute photos of his niece.

Dating

Taylor eventually asked Callie to be his girlfriend after a couple months of going on dates. He came to her sorority house with flowers and a sweet note asking her out. He then took her to their favorite brunch place called Cultiva in Lincoln.

They went on many more dates to weddings, to top golf, Dave & busters, and Taylor’s favorite place: Nebraska Furniture Mart.

Studying abroad

After 6 months of dating, Callie studied abroad in Mexico. This photo was taken when Taylor and her mom dropped her off at the airport. They both knew long distance would be challenging, but so worth it! They made it work by communicating over face time each night, sharing their highs and lows of the day, praying together, and encouraging one another. After doing long distance, they learned that love is a choice, and it’s not always based on how you feel. We are so glad that we chose each other in this season of life and will continue to do so for the rest of our lives.

Coming back home

When she came back, it was so amazing to see each other again! It almost felt like a dream when he picked her up from the airport.

They enjoyed the summer together and went back to Cozad to visit family and celebrate her graduation from Nebraska Wesleyan. Taylor also graduated from law school & passed the BAR exam! ( he is one smart cookie).

Although there were so many unexpected challenges that Callie had faced after graduation such as health issues, job searching, depression, etc. Taylor had unwavering faith & was a prayer warrior through all of it. They learned that going through hardships & getting through it together had make them so much stronger.

Engagement

After much anticipation and a few years of waiting, Taylor popped the question a couple months after their 3 year anniversary. Although he doesn’t like sushi, he knew Callie did & took her out to a nice sushi restaurant, told her to dress up, & took her to the falls where he had a beautiful set-up of a blanket with roses. He got down on one knee & said “I love you so much, what do you say to doing forever together?” As she said yes, his mom and sisters were taking a video & photos to surprise her. It was such a beautiful and surreal experience for the both of them.

We are so blessed to have gone through hills and valleys together and to have the upmost support from family & friends who were rooting for us from the start. God has been so faithful and so sweet to us in this season of life.

We cannot wait to celebrate our most special day with all of you!
