In 2016, Calyn moved to Tulsa to start her first job after graduate school. Anxious to meet new people and make friends, she joined a co-ed kickball league. It was here that Dallas and Calyn first met. They hit it off right from the beginning as teammates and friends. They spent many nights after kickball games talking about their goals, similarities, and outlook on life. Dallas knew at that point he had found someone special. Dallas asked Calyn to dinner at Andolini's Pizza, which technically, should have been their first date. Unfortunately, Calyn took the ask as a friendly get-together rather than a date (oops!) At that time, she was dating someone else and told Dallas that she wanted to be loyal to her new relationship and see where it went. Dallas was hopeful that the relationship would end and he would get his chance to sweep Calyn off her feet! Dallas and Calyn continued on as friends for several months until eventually, in 2017, Calyn broke the news that she was relocating to Alabama. Dallas was heartbroken. They remained friends even after her move to Alabama, meeting up for a trip to Austin, Texas with friends for Halloween. That same weekend, when Dallas dropped Calyn off at the airport to fly home, they had a candid discussion about a long-distance relationship. They ultimately decided it wasn't the best choice at the time. The friends lost touch and did not speak again for 4 years. They went through a series of failed relationships. Calyn moved back to Oklahoma in 2019, but saw that Dallas was engaged at that time and did not reach out. One day in 2021, Dallas sent Calyn a DM on Facebook apologizing for their lost connection. Calyn was thrilled to hear from him and they spent several days catching up via text message. Dallas suggested grabbing drinks in downtown OKC that weekend. They met up and the flame was instantly rekindled! Dallas told Calyn they were FINALLY going to get their shot. He planned a beautiful FIRST (!) date on June 11, 2021. The couple dressed to the nines. He rented out a private room at Vast at the Devon tower in OKC and set up a beautiful 5 course meal complete with a custom key lime pie. It was a perfect night and it was that weekend that Dallas asked Calyn to be his girlfriend. Two years later, on the anniversary of their last meeting in Austin, Dallas proposed at a private room at Vast in front of 24 of their closest friends and family!
