Our Story

What an honor it is for you all to have made it to read our story. First off, we want to say thank you! Each one of you that received an invitation to our wedding day hold a very special place in our hearts. We are extremely blessed and grateful to have such incredible people surrounding us, encouraging us through every season, thus far! We are so pumped to get married and would love for you all to read just how the future Monaghans began…

Adam and I both attended Oklahoma State University and also grew up in Tulsa, where Adam went to Jenks and I went to Broken Arrow high school. We did not meet until our senior year of college.

Taber, one of my roomates senior year and best friends had a date party coming up, she and her boyfriend Chris (fiancé now) thought Adam should take me. Chris and Adam were fraternity brothers and good friends. So, the introduction began…

Our first stop was Murphys, Taber ran over to me and said CAM, YOU HAVE TO COME OVER HERE AND MEET ADAM! I followed her and there was the famous Adam that I had been hearing about. We introduced ourselves and I will not lie, it was AWKWARD! Then, one of my friends from high school interrupts me from just meeting Adam. I began catching up with them, then realized how rude that was to just turn away, so I tapped Adam on the shoulder to let him know that it was nice to meet him. Next stop was Outlaws, a country bar known for two steppin, We were headed out of Murphys when I hear a loud voice yell HEY, WHERE YOU GOIN?! I turn around and sure enough it was Adam. His buddy Chris told him where we were headed and he tagged along. I loved the song that was playing and asked Adam if he knew how to two-step, he said no and I proceeded to ask if he thought he was too cool for it. He just laughed, said no and went to the dance floor with me. We get out there and this man did not know how to dance, much less two step, so I taught him that night, we had a blast. Adam and Chris ended up walking us girls home and invited us to a pool party the next day. Taber and I went, we all had the best time. Adam asks for my phone number and asked me on our first official date.

Funny side note, Adam did not have any idea where to take me to dinner because I have Celiac disease, so he played it safe and took me to Chipotle. We went to lake McMurtry after and danced to New Light by John Mayer, jumped in the lake and told one another all about our lives. Moral of the story it was the sweetest and best date EVER!

We graduated college and both headed to OKC, where our jobs took us. We did a ton of growing in our relationship that year and learned so much about what we thought life would look like moving forward.

Our 2 year anniversary was in December. The weekend of December 15th Adam was moving back to Tulsa. He mentioned that he really wanted us to get a real tree for Christmas because that’s what his family always did growing up and he wanted to bring that tradition into our relationship. I thought that was so sweet, we ended up going to the Owasso Christmas Tree Farm to pick one out. Adam wanted to bring me down a path that was marked “do not cut” and I was not following him, because I had already fell in love with the first tree we saw. He then just grabbed my hand and led me down a path. I noticed a girl out there by herself and thought it was odd, as we get near her, I spotted a camera bag. I instantly got chills and got emotional because I knew what was about to happen. Adam had a basket by the trees with a bible engraved Camden Elyse Monaghan, along with flowers, and a note that he read to me. That day was the best day of my life, Adam asked me to marry him!

Our story has faced many trials that I truly believe has only made us grow more in love and stronger together. Our relationship is nothing short of the faithfulness of the Lord continuously pointing us to him in every season. We are beyond thrilled to continue this forever, standing before our families and friends to make a vow before God!
