Our Wedding

We both graduated from Mississippi State the same day from College of Education.. saw each other graduate without knowing the other yet. A few days later, Cameron messaged me on Tinder with a lame pickup line that said something like "We've been together for 10 years and we're arguing about what our first date was. Can you remind me?" Obviously, I messaged back lol. I asked to hang out first and we met up at Rick's Cafe and Cameron lost in pool. He also spilled my drink and had to ask for a rag to clean it up. Needless to say, we've been inseparable ever since, and I wouldn't change any of it &lt;3

How We Met

The first time that I knew she was the person I was supposed to marry was our first Thanksgiving together. We were at my Nana and Papa's house with my Mom's side of the family. It was the first time she was around everyone. She had met some but not all. From the very beginning of the day I could tell how much she fit into the family and how much everyone loved her. Seeing her mixing so well made me feel like she was supposed to be there. That was when I knew.

When I Knew She Was The One

First time Cameron ever took me to Vicksburg, he was showing me places that he would go, and I told him that I had never seen the MS river. He took me over there and as Hank Jr. said "the Mississippi River was a going dry..." He did take me back and it was in fact still dry. Thought I saw a tumbleweed go across. I finally have seen the river part to it though, and I can say it is nice when it can flow lol, not flood... I will say though, the murals were my favorite part. Vicksburg has a lot of history to it and it's really interesting.

Courtney told me that I was not allowed to ask her to be my girlfriend without meeting her Dad and getting his approval. I really wanted to ask her so I told her I wanted to meet them. We decided that we were gonna go to the Mexican restaurant. That whole day I was so nervous but when we got there and I started talking I got calmer. Still nervous of course but better. After leaving I told Courtney I hope I gave a good impression because I said maybe ten words total... But after she said they liked me and soon after she became my girlfriend.

It was a good bit after him, but I had asked him "How do we know if we're actually supposed to be together?" and I half expected him to say "Because you make me happy"... or something similar to that. But instead, he said "Because my relationship with God has grown so much since meeting you." On top of that response and seeing how considerate and good with my family he was, especially my nephews and nieces, that was when I knew.

When Did I Know Cameron Was The One?

We decided that we wanted to adopt a cat, so we went to the Oktibbeha County Animal Shelter on August 19, 2025. We walked into the back and saw dozens of cats. We asked to hold one cat, Billy. He seemed to be a great cat but he was a bit more chaotic than what we were wanting. So then we asked to hold Donny. He was the sweetest and calmest cat. We instantly knew he was the one we wanted. We took him home for a "sleepover." After a few nights we went back to the shelter and adopted him on the 23rd. While he still has that kitten energy and is a menace to society at times, he really is the best cat. We definitely lucked out on how great he is and how well he fits into the family. We did decided to keep the name Donny since he had been at the shelter since he was born, but we ended up giving him a full name for when he gets into trouble. We decided on Donald Frank Harvey. The Frank is because he quite frankly meows all of the time at us haha.

The day Cameron asked me out was August 1, 2023 which is National Girlfriend Day. The day we will get married, October 3, 2025 is National Boyfriend Day. It wasn't planned but it's neat.

Fun Facts

I had been going to Meadowview since I was around 10 years old. Cameron started coming with me shortly after we started dating. In the Summer of 2024, we took a class that explained the history and mission of the church. Once we finished it, we were able to officially become members together. We've been going ever since. Soon we'll be more plugged in!
