INTRO
Summer love is what started it all.
Two kids from what seemed like different worlds… yet they grew up within a mile of one another.
She had eyes for him, yet, & as you may have guessed, he was none the wiser, in a rock band, as aloof as they come.
She was intelligent, impressively athletic, wonderfully goofy and filled to the brim with what one could only describe as rays of sunshine.
He was thoughtful, equivocally as goofy, quick because he was raised to be, and the first to smile, his cheeks always first to give away the joke he was about to say.
They both adored music with all of their little hearts… and the rest…well, they absolutely adored food.
They were both creative, both incredibly adamant about the importance of family, and loyal beyond compare to those important in their life.
As co-workers, they couldn’t help but smile at one another, almost as if they knew this time was… different.
He actually cared, but not in a way that was simple. He heard her, he remembered the small things. He felt her hand with intention, as to remember every vein, so if he went blind, he would still know it was her if she touched.
He was weird, like incredibly weird but so talented, so spontaneous, as if it was always difficult to actually know what he was thinking or what was to come next. He gave her peace, he let her be… her, and that’s all that ever counted.
She absolutely leveled what he thought love was. She had eyes that could (did) kill a man, with a button nose and smile to match. She asked him questions, with an inquiring mind, as if her curiosity wouldn’t let her sit still, because she wanted to do everything right. She laughed so hard she cried at her own jokes, and was so so incredibly weird, but so vibrant and so genuine, it was like finding a brand new world behind the curtains of a waterfall. She reminded him there really is a future for him, there’s another day to look forward too, and that’s all that ever counted.
And so it began, the first love… and all at once, what they could feel in their chest, was the one they were waiting for.
ACT 1
So they ate spaghetti and tiramisu.
Eventually, she ended up transferring to FSU.
FaceTimed every night they were apart
Played volleyball with friends, drunk after dark
She went to every show no matter how bad the smell
The stickier the floors, the harder she fell
He graduated college and it was back to square one,
Long Distance year two, he was running from the sun
ACT 2
He ended up finally making the hardest of choices
Moved to Clearwater, praying he would keep all of his voices
He traveled every week, until his eyes would fall asleep
To make sure he could see both her and his family
He ate cans of beans and would talk her to sleep
Stay up late and still dream, then his alarm would go “BEEP”
She was in school, getting her masters at that
Of course, as one does, felt lonely, so she bought a cat.
She named her cat Loca and made homie laugh.
“Mother like Daughter” he said, boy what a gas
She finally graduated and he had enough
They ended up reuniting in South Florida, with the plans a little rough.
He job hopped to get right, she found one after some strife
So they decided to vacation and hop on a flight
To Paris, at least it was, but then Covid Hit
Long Distance Year # 3, they couldn’t believe this ****.
ACT 3
Their love just kept growing, what a beautiful disaster
But they knew that very soon, they would start a new chapter
They took a chance with some jobs and got a new home
Never stressed and now blessed to never be alone.
But then he turned on the microwave fan for no reason
Stress cleans the counters like it’s going out of season?
He never used a dishwasher not even just once?
Made pretty bad coffee, right out the jump?
& he lost it, when there was egg yolk the 3rd time
On the counters he so diligently cleans, to relieve him from his mind
Why does she stare at him, after every bite he takes?
And don’t even start about leaving the kitchen cabinet doors open after everything she makes
Yet, the home that they curated, is one like none other
His style and her plants combine to make the other stuff seem subtle
She watches him burn through diets and cuts
All to ensure of course, it is he with the nicest butt
She hears him play his guitar for her as she falls asleep
He sees her smile as she snuggles the sheets, as he slowly sneaks into her dream.
He watches her scorch through conspiracy theories and books
All to ensure they’re to become the healthiest of cooks.
He watches her play games and eat enough cereal for two
She hugs him so hard, when he says “it’s okay - I love you.”
OUTRO
She is even more intelligent, she is vibrant, she is passion, she is conscious, she is kind, she is vital, she has empathy, she is brave and stronger than ever before.
She is still a MAJOR goofball, and is hysterically funny. She’s more honest than ever and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
He is a god damn lunatic, he is warm, he is giving, he is heart, he is kindness, he is love, he is strength, he is a stone, he of course has the nicer butt.
He is still so incredibly weird and absolutely not a morning person. He’s makes great coffee now, he is so beautifully creative and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
They are each other’s person.
They are considerate.
They sit on floors.
They both love ice cream.
They make each other cry laugh.
They love their family with all their entire being.
They love their friends with their entire soul.
They love each other.
And the crazy part is, this isn’t even the finish line.
They are just getting started.
