Our Wedding

It was my senior year in high school and&nbsp;on Easter Sunday I went to church in my Sunday best as I knew it could be the last Easter I spent with my family because I was Clemson-bound for the next four years. As on most holidays, I enjoyed how busy and full our church felt and began happily greeting guests and newcomers.&nbsp;

Even my pastor&nbsp;cheered as he had also brought a new visitor to church and showed his guest off like a shiny new toy. His guest was a coworker of his, big and tall, with a rough face that suggested he lacked sleep and a composure that suggested he hadn't stepped foot in a church for a while. We were introduced briefly (I'm pretty sure his name was Devin...), and before I knew it, the whole gang was already making plans for lunch. As we met at the Mellow Mushroom, our orders were taken and everyone was enjoying each other's company. Devin and I began talking and then he asked, "So what all are you doing right now?"



My response: "Oh I'm in school"



Him: "What are you studying?"



Me: "Oh yea I'm pretty undecided but I think I want to do something with architecture"



.... The conversation went on a little more and then he asked me what year I was in and I'm not sure he was too excited when I said, "I'm graduating high school next month" because he kindly&nbsp;backed off in the conversation and it was pretty awkward after that..

2015

Now let's fast forward to after I went off to college, got lost in the crowd, dropped out of architecture, slightly got depressed and was excited to come home for the summer and get back into church--

I was helping out with the youth that summer, but it still felt like I was left out and that I had missed a lot of things with our church while I was away. But by then, Devin had already become a "regular" and helped my father with the sound booth- I guess you could say that he had made his place there and was really doing a great job at it. He was growing in his faith while&nbsp;I was reaching in all of the wrong places and struggling with mine.&nbsp;

One day I was home doing laundry and watching some HGTV and I got a phone call from my dad. He asked me to go to the church to learn how to do the sound booth from Devin because he wasn't going to be there that Sunday and I was the only one home at the moment. So I put my sandals on and walked across the street to meet up with Devin to get trained. (Imma just say it now that I was super scared and embarrassed because I absolutely am no good with technology) and I was screwing it up pretty badly... but I guess my embarrassment translated to flirting for him and when we were finally finished and we walked out the door he turned around quickly and with a lot of courage he asked me if I wanted to get dinner some time. (Now me being the young and mindless girl that has never been asked out by a real man)&nbsp;I thought " oh he wants to hang out, how fun" and I agreed. It wasn't until later that I asked my sister and she said "Duh, that's a date"... To be honest, I almost cancelled on him twice, but I'm glad I didn't because he revealed that I was his last shot at putting himself out there for a while. *Awwww cue crying*

2016

As you can probably tell, that first date was a great success and so were all the other ones that followed, because we worked really hard at our relationship via video chat&nbsp;while I was still away at Clemson (and I'll be honest by saying that most of his gray hairs came from me while I kept him up until 2 or 3 in the morning just to talk when he really just wanted to sleep- isn't he just wonderful?)&nbsp;But anyways... That January I transferred back home to USC because I missed being home and I didn't like that my dad was paying a Clemson tuition while I was pursuing just a Spanish degree. So I started at USC and Devin and I kept growing together and falling more in love with each other.&nbsp; We both went through a lot of things together within the past year but I couldn't have asked for a better man to endure all of it with.&nbsp;

2017

On the first day of the New Year, Devin took me out for some errands and he ended up taking me to the lake because "he needed to stretch his legs". We sat down at a lovely spot and he handed me a card- inside was his proposal written in Portuguese- and by the time I realized what was happening he was holding a ring. In front of me. With the most handsome face that he has. And he asked me to marry him! And that's just what we are going to do pretty soon! I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with this God-fearing man and I am very excited that I get to share the moment with all of you!

Behold, the maid of honor!

This is Stef: loving wife of Steven Griggs, proud pet mom of Apollo and Stella,&nbsp; and one of my dearest friends.&nbsp; Two things that she's really good at are sewing and cooking. I'm so thankful that Devin introduced us to each other. We have had such great moments together and I hope that our friendship only grows stronger. One of my favorite things about her is that she is a genuine person- even&nbsp;if you only spend 5 minutes with her, you will get the whole Stef. She doesn't hide who she is and she has a stronger heart than she thinks she does. I know God has great plans for this one...



Thank you for being so helpful during this journey, Stef. I couldn't have asked for a better person to goof off with and grow in faith with.&nbsp;





Stefania Griggs

Since meeting Steven,&nbsp;&nbsp;while working contract security, we have had&nbsp;great times together from bonfires to&nbsp;conversations&nbsp;about politics to work shenanigans while&nbsp;being bored watching the grass grow...&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Eventually, I got Steven to join me for a couple of bible studies at church and now&nbsp;we are continually researching&nbsp;and challenging each other spiritually and scripturally almost&nbsp;every time we meet.&nbsp; Steven has been a huge help with fixing up my home from crazy electrical work&nbsp;to getting in the attic where I&nbsp;cannot go. I have enjoyed&nbsp;taking weekly turns at each others houses to&nbsp;try to&nbsp;renovate,&nbsp;finish&nbsp;the yard projects, and cross off our&nbsp;"honey to do's".&nbsp; Any time&nbsp;I&nbsp;call&nbsp;Steven, he always has a "lets see what we can do" mindset&nbsp;no matter how crazy or out-of-this-world the ideas that&nbsp;we have come up with are.&nbsp; I'm proud to call him a Friend, Brother in Christ&nbsp;and my&nbsp;Best Man.

Steven Griggs

I met Brandon at a church planning meeting briefly after I was trying to&nbsp;change&nbsp;careers.&nbsp;He gave me a chance with Chipotle and&nbsp;hired me on a risk and from then&nbsp;has been a boss, mentor, adviser&nbsp;and most importantly a close&nbsp;friend to me. Brandon has been there&nbsp;when I've&nbsp;had questions&nbsp;and&nbsp;concerns&nbsp;about&nbsp;work&nbsp;to&nbsp;discuss&nbsp;about&nbsp;relationships,&nbsp; marriage, and faith.&nbsp; I have always enjoyed meeting up with him.&nbsp;It's always an&nbsp;adventure with him and our&nbsp;crazy trips from&nbsp;picking up some item he's found to&nbsp;him trying to find a way to&nbsp;put his prius&nbsp;in the bed of my truck so we could ride back from an out of town&nbsp;wedding together.&nbsp;Brandon&nbsp;even got down into the freezing Saluda&nbsp;River to help&nbsp;me baptize some&nbsp;of my&nbsp;friends and baptized me as well. Since the day I&nbsp;met Brandon, he has been a close friend as a friend who has been around for years and years. I'm&nbsp;very thankful to call him my friend.

Here is my sweet, sweet friend: Emily. We met at Clemson in our introductory Architecture class about 3 years ago. Although neither of us are pursuing architecture anymore, those semesters&nbsp;will always be some of my most cherished times in life because of this girl right here. She was one of the first people to push me into really appreciating life and all of its simple moments. She has also helped me see that it is okay to make mistakes but I should not define myself by them.&nbsp;

Emily,&nbsp; I can honestly say that God put you in my life for a reason. You've opened my eyes to a lot and I've grown in so many ways because of you.&nbsp;I wish you were closer so we could spend time together like we used to and I hope I'll have you in my life for a long time. You are a very special person and I don't know where I would have ended up had we not met...thank you for always being you &lt;3

Emily Pilot

I remember getting really excited to hear my brother was born and I was going to get to meet him that day.&nbsp; It was been amazing and a fun sight to see him grow up. &nbsp;Through the years, I would even get into to trouble because he was doing something I was doing trying to be like me. I have watched him learn new things like cleaning the pool or riding the lawn tractor and dealing with him barking orders while our dad and I worked on projects at the house like he was a foreman on a job site. He really has made me proud from watching him graduate this year to becoming an Eagle Scout, it has been a sight to see. I’m honored and proud to call him My One and Only Brother.&nbsp;



















































Sean Gearon

Ah, who could this goofball be? The one and only Sasha!&nbsp; She is my only&nbsp;full sister which means she and I share a lot of our weird quirks together. It's great because there is no one else on this earth that could understand our strange sisterly bond (aka the weird noises and faces we make at each other instead of normal conversation...yea we will never be too old for that).&nbsp; Just because she was born on April 1st does not mean she is a fool- Sasha is one of the most "out of the box", creative, and accepting people that I know. I have always seen her treat others with respect and being there for others when they need her. And she also has a soft and humble&nbsp;heart- and this is a trait I would love to have.

Sasha, I cannot express how happy I am to be known as your little sister. I will always be on your team (even if it doesn't feel like it sometimes) and waiting to see all the cool things you will accomplish... And as per request, here are&nbsp;a couple&nbsp;cool emoji faces for ya:

Michael is Camilla’s brother in law and my future brother in law. We have enjoyed a many of the crazy Brazilian family parties and trying to figure out what is happening after everyone breaks out into laughter in the multi lingual conversations. Michael is pretty awesome guy and I look forward to being a part of this crazy family with him.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Here is Kaline. She's a pretty great step sister that's taught me a lot about life. Although I struggle to listen sometimes, she ends up giving me a lot of insight on important&nbsp;things and I am really happy that she's been there. She's been one of the most supportive people through my journey and has helped ease the overwhelming sensations that come from wedding planning. (I'm also&nbsp;grateful that Kaline tries to understand me even when I can't function as a normal person...)&nbsp;

So, thank you for all that you are and all that you do&nbsp;Kaline!

Kaline Bell

I met Mullen when doing security, we have enjoyed a many nights of video gaming, challenging the all you can eat buffet signs along with trying many good beers and food as well as making a few of our own.&nbsp; We have had very interesting talks while being completely bored at work.&nbsp; We have had fun times playing board games to video games late at night while falling asleep on the keyboard as well racing through book series trying to find out what happens next first.&nbsp; Mullen has been there to help me through thick and thin.&nbsp;

Michael Mullen

This here is one of my cousins, Mariana. She has such a fun and easygoing spirit and is always supportive of me. Some people think she's much younger than she actually is because of how fun she can be!&nbsp;We don't talk&nbsp;often&nbsp;but when we do, it always feels like we just saw each other. Every phone call/ video chat with her feels wonderful and full of happiness.&nbsp; I look forward to having many, many more with her!







Mariana Bueno

Last, but not least, is my adorable sister: Sophia. I have watched her grow into who she is today and every time I think of it my heart aches with overwhelming joy. I love this sweet pea with all my heart and I can't wait to see where her curiosity leads her in life.&nbsp;&nbsp;
