FAQ

Should I Rent a Car?

You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from the ceremony/reception and to the luau (~35 minute drive without traffic). If you feel like renting a car would be more convenient, we would recommend renting from the airport or Turo. There are Ubers available in the area as well.

How do I get to the Luau?

You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from the luau. The luau offers round trip transportation from various locations in Waikiki for $30/person. If you are interested in this option, please let us know no later than 10/16 and we will reach out to make the accommodation. Traffic will be heavy leaving for the luau, so please plan to leave at least one hour before the luau begins to ensure an on time arrival.

What is the dress code?

Summer/tropical formal. It’ll be warm, so dress for the weather, and feel free to wear something fun and colorful! Please do not wear shorts or jeans, khakis or slacks please! Please avoid green dresses and tan suits as the wedding party will be wearing these colors

What shoes should I wear to the ceremony?

Wear whatever makes you comfortable! Dressy sandals or going barefoot are great options for our sandy beach ceremony. Feel free to bring shoes to change into afterward.

Where exactly at Waialae Beach should I go for the ceremony?

Please use the parking location that was already texted to you. We will know the day before the ceremony where exactly on the beach to go and will update you then!

What time should I arrive to the ceremony and reception?

Due to the earlier sunset time in November, we will be doing group photos first after our first-look and private vows, beginning approximately at 4:30 PM. Please arrive at least 30 min early. Parking can be tricky at Wai'alae Beach and it will take you a few minutes to walk over to the ceremony area. Cocktail Hour at Kaimana Beach Hotel will begin at approximately 6:00pm

Can I take pictures/videos during the ceremony?

Please keep phones and cameras away during the ceremony. We will be very excited to share all of our photos with you after we get them back from our photographer!

Where do I park for the reception at Kaimana Beach Hotel?

The hotel offers valet parking on a first-come-first-serve-basis. With their validation, valet is $10 per car, cash payment only. This validation will cover the duration of the event. Kalakaua Ave also offers ample street parking, both free or meter. Meter parking is $0.50 per hour, up to 4 hours at a time. Meters accept credit card payments, plus accessibility through the Park Smarter smartphone app. This allows you to pay and extend time on your phone without walking back to the meter.
