Our Story

Down the Aisle

It all started one fateful night at a wedding rehearsal and dinner. Camille was a bridesmaid and Walker was a groomsman. We arrived separately at the rehearsal as we did not know one another yet but were quickly paired up to walk down the aisle together. Neither one said much that first night, just shared names and how we each knew the bride and groom. Both had other friends in the bridal party and spent spare time catching up with those we already knew. Honestly, Camille gave no special thought to Walker, she was just trying to act as normal as possible. Walker, on the other hand, noticed Camille and paid attention to her that weekend. At the rehearsal dinner we happened to sit near one another, with just one person between them. Camille noticed that Walker finished his whole plate of food. Walker noticed when Camille dropped part of her salad into the lit candle on the table and he didn't run for the hills. The wedding day was super busy so Walker did not have much time to seek Camille out. He did try to go talk to her at the reception but got intercepted by some college friends. Camille still had no eye for Walker, in fact, she didn't even remember his name. Both left and going our separate ways; Walker back to Mississippi and Camille to Alabama.

After the bride and groom's honeymoon Walker jokingly ragged on the groom for not setting him up, thinking nothing would actually come of it. To Walker's surprise, the groom was heading to Camille's apartment soon for a back to school party and promised to talk to her about him. Camille still couldn't remember his name but said that of course she would at least get to know him, for she had been given some advice years ago that you should always give someone at least a first date unless they are a total creep (which Walker wasn't). So, the groom gave Walker Camille's number and three days later we began texting. Texting was going well and we had lots they wanted to talk about so we set up a phone call for the next evening. Walker called Camille at around 8pm and we hit it off. We talked on the phone for 8 1/2 hours hanging up at 4:30am!! We kept texting and set up another phone call for three days later where we talked for 5 1/2 hours with another 8 hour phone call four days later and a final 5 hour phone call three days after that. It was decided that we needed to really meet and spend time together so four days later Walker made his first visit to Camille.

To say things went well is an understatement. Even though this was the first time we were really spending time together in person we felt we already knew each other because of our extensive phone calls, in which both of us were incredibly honest with one another about our lives. On Saturday Walker asked Camille to be his girlfriend and of course she said yes!! By the end of the weekend both knew we had to plan another visit soon. Due to Camille serving in Children's ministry she couldn't miss on Sundays which meant Walker was always the one making the drive to Birmingham for us to be together. Even from that first weekend we knew we wanted to spend as much time as possible together so Walker was making his way to Birmingham 2 or 3 of the weekends out of any given month. By the time Christmas came around Camille was super excited to get the chance to go visit Walker. She spent almost two weeks in Mississippi and from that time on we have done our best to spend every weekend together.

By Christmas, Camille knew she loved Walker and it wasn't long after that Walker knew he loved Camille. Our love has continued to strengthen and grow and by the end of February we knew we wanted to get married, it was just a matter of time.

We had a trip planned to Disney World over Memorial Day weekend, and Camille thought Walker might propose then. However that trip got canceled. After that, Camille went back to her hometown for an internship and Walker began to plan again. Another opportunity presented itself when the trip to Disney was rescheduled for a weekend in August after Camille's summer job finished. Once again however that trip was canceled when Camille found out she had covid. SO, third time being the charm, the trip got rescheduled AGAIN for the next weekend. With delayed flights and arrival in Florida happening around 2am it almost seemed as if the proposal wouldn't happen, but Walker was determined. As soon as we entered the Happiest Place on Earth, a place full of fairy tales, magic, and wonder, the most magical and wonderful thing happened, Walker proposed! Such a big step in our fairy tale took place right alongside other fairy tales and we are each other's happier ever after!

As we waited for the time to get engaged it has been confirmed a thousand times over that we are perfect for each other and that the Lord truly did create us to be together. We make each other better, are partners, and best friends, and honestly we can't imagine doing life without the other. The Lord has blessed each of us beyond measure with the other and we pray that our relationship brings Him glory forevermore.
