Camille and Coby met in math class when they were sixteen years old. Coby was the class clown, and Camille was entertained by his antics. Before the end of the term Coby asked Camille to help him take photos for a brand he was working with. She said yes and they spent an afternoon together taking photos in Downtown Oregon City. That night Coby asked Camille out to a movie.
The couple’s first official date was seeing Moana in theaters in early December of 2016. Since they were only 16 and hadn’t had their licenses for more than 6 months, Camille’s father, Jerrod, had to pick up Coby and take them both to the theater.
After that first date the two were inseparable. A series of snow days caused Winter Break to start early that year. Camille and Coby spent many days together walking through Camille’s neighborhood in the snow and taking photos. One night Camille’s family decided to visit the Oregon Garden’s Christmas lights. Camille invited Coby to join them, and he agreed to come along. The air was frigid that night and the ground was coved in a thick layer of ice and snow. The pair hung back and as Camille was slipping and sliding around Coby was there to keep her steady and crack a joke whenever he could.
Within a few days Camille and Coby made it official on December 20th, 2016. In the seven years since then they have remained inseparable. They’ve gone on countless travels to new states and countries. They’ve lived in new places and taken the leap to move in together. They’ve grown into adulthood together and taken on new challenges.
In 2020, Camille and Coby moved to Eugene for her to attend the University of Oregon. They learned how to cohabitate, lean on each other, and live away from home. Coby got a job at the Lane County Circuit Court, and Camille pursued her degree. In June of 2022, Camille graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Psychology and their time in Eugene came to an end.
In July of 2022 Coby moved into the upstairs of the Groom’s house on a wedding venue named Gray Gables Estate. During this time Camille decided to stay at home with her parents to try and save money to buy a home. That summer Coby began working for Tigard Municipal Court, and Camille began her job search soon after. In February of 2023, Camille landed a job as a Legal Assistant at a lawyers office. A few short months later, she left and began working at Clackamas County Circuit Court as the Assistant Jury Coordinator. In August of 2023, the pair decided they had enough of living separately and with housing prices constantly on the rise they made the leap to living together again. Not long after, whispers about getting married found their way into the couple’s conversations. Coby began working on the custom ring of Camille’s dreams and had expressed wanting an engagement ring of his own. Camille began scouring the internet for a ring that would match Coby’s style and take on a unique flair rarely seen in men’s rings.
On November 24th, 2023, Camille and Coby were at home putting up their Christmas tree. As they finished up Coby said he had one last ornament and pulled out a glass bulb with “Camille, Will you marry me?” written on it and Camille’s custom ring sitting inside. In the moment Coby was overcome by emotion, he tried to get the words out but nothing came except tears. Camille, in a shocked state, could only think to ask, “Are you going to get down on your knee?” Camille was sure that the proposal was weeks away and would likely be when they planned to return to the Oregon Gardens for Christmas lights or maybe on their anniversary trip to Gearhart. Luckily, Coby laughed and got down on his knee but the words still did not come. This moment on is a bit of a blur. The couple can honestly not remember if Coby asked the question or if Camille said yes. But regardless the ring slid onto Camille’s finger, and the two sat on the couch in awestruck laughter and tears.
Camille and Coby have waited many years for this moment, and they are excited and grateful to be able to share it with those they love most. They would like to thank their families and friends for their support and love over the years. You all mean the world to them.
